Evan's POV—
"I don't suppose that you're going to tell me what's going on," is the first thing I say to Ben as Ashley continues to rush in the direction that the others went in. He only gets up from the couch and starts heading in that general direction as well.
I do the same, keeping up with his pace.
"It's not really my place to tell you," he says as we continue walking by.
As we walk through the store, reaching the exit, I make a mental note to come back later to buy those earrings. Once all of this is figured out, that is.
We eventually get out of the store, finding them near the exit of the mall. Isabella and Ashley are arguing with Sasha and Michael about something—clearly almost to the point where Ashley and Isabella are yelling.
Seeing them in that state, Ben and I quickly close the gap between us and reach them. As we do so, Sasha sighs frustratedly and goes to tug on Michael's arm to get him to leave with her. But as she does so, Ashley reaches out for her, managing to grab her hand.
"Just let me go, Ashley," Sasha hisses at her as she tries to yank her hand out of her grasp. Ashley doesn't let up though.
"No. Sasha just please don't—"
"Why don't you just do as she said. Let her go," Michael speaks up as he roughly grabs Ashley by her wrist. She tenses up as he touches her, and seeing her tense up, I immediately go to step up next to her.
Faster than I can register, Michael pries Ashley's hand off of Sasha and pushes her back. Since I was already on my way to her, I manage to catch her before she can fall back. When she regains her balance, she rubs her wrist, gritting her teeth a bit. The second I see that she's well enough away from him, I turn my attention back to Michael.
"What the hell is your problem," I say to him, getting in front of Ashley so he can't reach her anymore.
"This doesn't involve you, freak. Just go back to whatever corner you crawled out from," he says, in a way of dismissing me as he returns his attention to Ashley. I push him back as he goes to take another step towards her.
Like hell I'm letting him anywhere near her now.
"If you know what's good for you, you'd stay away from her," I hiss at him. He only laughs, shaking his head at me.
"Oh please, you don't scare me, little tranny," he throws at me, most likely expecting a reaction from me from the little nickname he gave me.
But I've already been called by that more than once in my life, so it doesn't really bother me at all.
"Michael, let's just go," Sasha says, tugging on his arm again. For a long moment, Michael just stands in front of me, clearly trying to intimidate me with his advantage of height. Not like he's really that much taller than me.
And besides, he doesn't scare me one bit.
I've taken on guys bigger than him, and who are most likely stronger than him.
Exhibit A: Andy Stupid-Ass-Face Parker.
And lord knows I wasn't scared of that dipshit either.
I guess that's the one good outcome of being bullied and abused all throughout middle school. It's taught me to not get scared of idiots like Andy, and Michael, I guess.
Don't know much about the guy.
But he's clearly got some issues.
"Yeah, ok," he eventually says before he narrows his eyes at Isabella and Ashley once more. He turns around and leaves with Sasha directly afterwards.
