Ashley's POV—
"I don't wanna go back. Don't make me go back..." Evan groans as she yanks her blankets up and over her head, shielding herself from...well I guess the idea of having to wake up. It only makes me roll my eyes and grab the edge of her blanket and yank it back.
She hisses—literally hisses—when the light of the room shines in her face, blinding her no doubt. To further block out the light, she rolls over onto her stomach and grabs one of her pillows and puts it on top of her head, burying herself in her mattress.
"Evan. Come on, we're going to be late at this point," I try telling her. She tries saying something, but since her face is buried in the mattress, it only comes out as mumbles.
Honestly. She was complaining about not being able to do anything because she was grounded. Now, on the day when her punishment is no longer a thing, she's refusing to go anywhere. Although that somewhere is school.
But still.
Biting my lower lip to hold back a rude remark, I poke her side with my index finger. She immediately flinches and pulls her body away from me, going further onto her bed. Playfully rolling my eyes this time, I do it again. She makes a sound this time as I poke her side again. A mixture between a laugh, a hitch in her voice, and a squeak.
It's an effort to not burst out laughing at it.
I do it once more and this time, she lifts her head up. The pillow falls off of her head and when it's back on her bed, she sits up all the way and glares at me. "That's not funny, Ash," she tells me, referring to me poking her.
Good to know that that's still her tickle spot.
She's not ticklish anywhere else.
Only on her sides.
"Then get your butt moving." I tell her as I cross my arms, getting ready to fight with her if she refuses again. But she only groans as she runs her hands down her face.
"Alright, alright. I'll get up," she reluctantly says. I move aside so she can get off of her bed and watch as she slowly makes her way to the closet and disappears behind it. Sighing, I walk over to my desk and slip my school jacket on and grab my backpack.
May as well get a quick bite to eat while she's getting ready.
No point in waiting here for her.
Only Caleb and Roxy are down in the kitchen. Both of them eating quietly. Mathew, Zack, and mom are no where to be seen.
But, I guess that makes sense. It's getting late, so they might have left a little while ago. Wish I could say the same. But Evan was being stubborn this morning about getting up. At least I eventually got her up. If she can just be ready to go in a couple minutes, that would be great because then, we might not be late for school.
But the odds of that happening, especially since she's not a morning person at all...
"Where's Evan?" Roxy asks me as I sit down at the table with a blueberry muffin to eat.
"She's getting ready. She was refusing to get up earlier," I tell her as I pick at the muffin. We ran out of banana nut muffins—which are my favorite. But I guess blueberry will do.
"I can't be late today. I've been on time so far this trimester and I don't want to ruin that just because she's being stubborn," Roxy says, groaning.
You and me, sis.
"Wait. Why are you still here?" I ask Caleb as I turn to him, seeing that he's still sitting here. He'd usually be gone by now. But here he is. Sitting at the table with us and slowly sipping his coffee.
