Ashley's POV—

"You do know what Isabella and Sasha are calling you, right?" I say to Evan as we walk through the doors to the school. While Roxy goes her own way, Evan and I go in the same direction, towards where my locker is. And even though it's been a few days since the whole Andy thing, and people aren't approaching me as much, Evan makes sure to make it obvious that if they're going to start something with me, they'll have to get through her first.

Thus why she's keeping me closer this time. With her arm draped over my shoulder. The one advantage of her doing so, is that people are staying away more now. But that's probably because they're too busy gawking at how close we are, closer than we've been showing so far.

If only they knew what we were doing Wednesday afternoon in the basement of the house we both live in.

Though, given how surprised they look from seeing us like this, I wouldn't doubt that they're already drawing up conclusions about us.

Just more gossip to run through these halls.

Yay.

But. I won't lie, there is a great deal of comfort with Evan's arm draped over my shoulder, keeping me close to her as we walk through the halls. Though, I won't be admitting that to her any time soon. I refuse to give her that satisfaction right off the bat just yet.

"What do they call me?" she asks, looking down at me for a split second before she narrows her eyes at someone nearby, making them go from trying to approach us to walking around us with their eyes averted in another direction.

"They're referring to you as my 'boby guard' now." I tell her, which is true. After Evan made sure I was with Isabella and Sasha and walked away to find her friends, they teased me about her being overly protective. And then even more saying how cute she is for caring so much, or something like that.

Then even going as far as shipping us.

"How do you see it?" she asks, referring to what she's been doing this entire week. Making sure I'm not alone to deal with other people's nonsense about the whole thing Andy started.

"I think you're really sweet for wanting to make sure everything's fine...but I really can look out after myself." I tell her, smiling at her a little.

Lord knows I've already told her that more than five times already.

And, given how she responded the last time I said it to her, which was probably yesterday, she'll probably say something on lines of—

"Too bad, you're stuck with me. You're not getting rid of me that easily." she says, giving me her own smile. My heart flutters just seeing her smile at me like that. To avoid having my face turn red by looking at her smiling at me like that more, I look away towards the wall lining up next to me. My eyes fall on a couple of students looking back and forth between Evan and me before whispering something to each other.

Carterson just loves gossip.

And drama.

I'm sure we'll be hearing about it sooner or later at this rate.

I can't help but wonder how Evan would react to it.

"Oh. There's something I want to talk to you about after school today, when we get home." she brings up real quick as Isabella and Sasha, and Liz and Will, appear standing at my locker. I quickly look to her again, catching her light green orbs with mine.

"Ok." I tell her just as we reach my group of friends. She removes her arm from around my shoulders, making me miss the touch.

"Evan, always nice to see you." Isabella says, smiling up towards her before she exchanges a couple looks with me, no doubt going to comment on how close we were when we walked up together just now.
