Evan's POV—
Groaning, I slowly force myself to get up from bed, but my body refuses to listen and pulls me back down onto the firm mattress. Groaning even more, I give it another shot, fighting against that natural urge to just give up and let my bed claim me.
It takes more effort, but I eventually manage to get up from bed.
Why do Monday's have to exist?
"Fuucckkk..." I mumble as I stretch my arms up and over my head, trying to get my body awake so I can get ready for school.
I flinch a little as the closet door opens. Ashley walks on out, dressed in her uniform with light makeup on her face. Half of her hair put up in a ponytail, the rest of her blonde hair falling over her shoulders.
"So you can get up at a decent time," she says, laughter lacing through her words. I can only playfully roll my eyes at her comment and walk on over towards her.
Without any sort of hesitation, I reach out for her waist and pull her into my arms. She doesn't hesitate to hug me back either, wrapping her arms around my neck. Bringing me closer to her in the process.
"Good morning to you too, sleep alright last night?" I ask her, mumbling against her shoulder.
"Yeah. You?"
"Yeah, just wish I didn't have to wake up so early," I trail off as I pull away from her.
"Me too. But, it is what it is. Anyway, I'm going to head downstairs to get something to eat. See you in a bit," she says. She leans up on her tippy toes to peck my cheek before she walks away, grabbing her backpack and jacket on her way out of our room.
Sighing, I walk into the closet, heading straight for the bathroom to go about my morning routine.
Friday night seems like it was just yesterday, but it also seems like it was so far away as well. It was fun, though. Especially because it was just the two of us, for the most part, that is. And seeing her smile in the way she did, was actually pretty rewarding in itself. Way more than I ever thought it would be.
Overall, it was a good first date.
And well...
By the end of the night...let's just say that I couldn't get the stupid grin that was across my face off, no matter what I did. I was—and still am—excited about her being my girlfriend. I'm also nervous, too. Mainly because she's the first girl who I'm actually taking things seriously with, and she's now my first girlfriend.
Up until now, I've been so conscious about what I did and how I did it, especially with our date last Friday night. My point is, I'm still kind of new to this whole dating and girlfriend thing. I just don't want to mess things up with her.
I genuinely do want to see where this goes between us.
Several minutes later, I walk out of the closet, fully dressed and physically ready for school. Can't say the same about being mentally ready, but whatever.
"Mom, I can't find my homework!" I hear Zack complain as I walk into the kitchen. The kid almost knocks me over as well, seeing that he's rushing around the house like a chicken without its head.
"Ashley, could you help him find it? I kind of have my hands full right now," Rebecca says to Ashley. Ashley gives me a small smile as she walks by, leaving the kitchen to follow Zack to another room to search for his homework.
"Wow, you're up early," Roxy says, obviously teasing me as I sit down next to her. I only shake my head as I reach for the Captain Crunch cereal box.
"Gotta mix things up every now and then," is my only response to her.
