chapter forty two

"Better drinking fountains, updated lockers, clearly marked boys' and girls' restrooms, non-dairy and wheat-free alternatives to the cafeteria, a larger voice in the monetary dispersal of charitable funds donated to our institution – because it is our institution, yours and mine. Remember people, if Chilton soars, we soar. If Chilton fails, we fail. It is up to us, we must get involved, we must care. It is not enough to sign a petition to get a Little Debbie machine installed in the senior corridor. Snack cakes will not change the world. Cream filling will not decide our legacy. How will future generations of Chilton students remember the class of 2003? John F. Kennedy once said, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Those eloquent words are just as relevant to here in this hall today. What can you, the future of Chilton, of America, of the world, what can you do for your school? I will tell you what you can do. You can vote for me, Paris Gellar." Paris announced.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to thank Reese McGinly, Schatzi Leason and Paris Gellar, your presidential candidates for next year. Elections will be held this Friday. Good luck to all of you. This concludes today's assembly. You are all dismissed." Mrs O'Malley told everyone.

"Hey." Paris came up to Rory and Camille.

"Hey." Rory replied.

"Did you get the Little Debbie comment?" Paris asked.

"Uh huh." Camille nodded.

"All of it? The cream filling, the snack cake?" Paris inquired.

"Every delicious morsel." Camille reassured her.

Paris started fussing over not being able to see the article that the girls were writing about her for the Franklin.

Louise and Madeline came hurrying into the hall.

"Okay, a hundred and fifty students were polled." Louise informed Paris.

"A total cross section." Madeline added.

"We talked to people that we should never have even had to stand near." Louise cringed.

"when asked which of the three candidates is the most qualified for the job of president, ninety percent said you." Madeline informed the darker blonde.

"And when asked who of the three candidates would be the most competent president, overwhelmingly the answer was once again you." Louise grinned.

"So that's it, I'm in." Paris was confident.

Long story short, Paris wasn't in. People didn't like her and that was a huge factor that affected votes.

Now Paris was trying to get Rory to be the vice president.

"It's genius. We could announce it in the Franklin tomorrow, Gellar and Gilmore. We even have the g-thing going. Never underestimate the power of alliteration, my friend." Paris marvelled.

"I don't wanna be vice president." Rory refused.

"Geller and Beaufort, Beaufort and Geller." Paris moved on to Camille.

"what are the odds of you shutting up if I so no?" Camille asked.

"slim to none." Paris replied.

"fine, i'll be the vice president." Camille sighed.

***

It was Sookie and Jackson's wedding which meant that everyone was stressed. Camille was more stressed than most due to a phone call she was expecting from Juilliard to consolidate her audition.

"what are you doing here?" Camille questioned Jess.

"hello to you, too." Jess chuckled.

"Is everything okay?" Camille asked.

"You look nice." Jess told her.

"Thank you." She smiled. "What are you doing here?"

"I moved back." He answered.

"What?" Camille inquired.

"I moved back." Jess shrugged.

"But – what – why?" Camille questioned.

"Just wanted to." Jess shrugged.

Camille kissed him.

"I have to go." Camille started to run of. "Oh, welcome home."

She got to the bridge that she, Rory and Lorelai were going to walk over. Lorelai and Rory were already standing there.

"I think i'm going to Washington." She decided.

Author's note:

And that's a wrap (of season 2 anyway).
When I first started this book I never expected to get as far as finishing it, especially in the time that I did. I know I missed out a few episodes or details in episodes but it's fine.
I'm so thankful for those who are reading this.
