Technically, nobody would be surprised that it's hella cold where I live, especially to Americans. But since today is freezing, even for me, I wrote this to at least warm my heart. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to wrap myself in some blankets.

Shinji was surprised that there was no snow falling onto the ground, considering how late in the fall it was. He could see his breath turning into fog, further proving his point as he walked back to his dorm at Hope's Peak Academy.

He shared it with his boyfriend, but Mikado never came out to train with him or went to class at all. He was more happy acting like a housecat on Shinji's lap while keeping the dorm clean and food prepared. While Shinji did like the food and cleanliness, he worried that Mikado would be caught without his magic and overpowered easily. But the wizard didn't like leaving the dorm unless necessary.

When he finally got to his dorm and walked in, locking it behind him, he noticed that the air was really cold inside. Another thing he noticed was a surprising lack of Mikado in the kitchen. Normally, the wizard would abandon what he was doing and practically cling to the firefighter while bombarding him with questions until he realized that he needed to keep cooking.

The first place Shinji thought to check was their bedroom, and low and behold, he saw a shivering bundle of blankets on the centre of the bed. Shinji walked up to the bed and gently removed the covers from the wizard's head to let him breathe.

"Heh, sorry if I surprised you, Mikado, but...um, Mikado? You good, bro?" Looking at the blonde closer, it didn't seem that Mikado was fully aware of his surroundings as he shivered. Shinji placed a hand on the wizard's cheek, feeling how cold it was. To his surprise, Mikado became a bit more aware, pressing his hand into the firefighter's hand while still looking dazed.

"Huh. It's the cold getting to you, isn't it?" The firefighter chuckled. "Right. Well, I'll turn up the thermostat and take a shower before I become a human heating pillow for the next hour or so." He left the bedside and went to turn up the thermostat, then went to have a shower like he always did after training. Otherwise, Mikado would complain about the smell, but he'd try to do it in the most subtle and awkward way possible as not to upset his boyfriend.

Fifteen minutes later, Shinji came out of the shower to find the dorm significantly warmer. The furnaces in the residence building were beyond compare, so maybe Mikado would feel less cold now.

Indeed, when he went into their bedroom now, Mikado was sitting up in bed and looking more aware. "Shinji! You're back!" He chirped, the masked half of his face excited as he was still wrapped in blankets. "And you came to rescue me too! My hero!"

As Shinji's face began to turn red from the affectionate wizard's words, Mikado got out of bed and slipped behind the firefighter, pushing him towards the bed. "M-Mikado! What are you doing?!" The taller boy whimpered, hoping that Mikado wasn't in a mood to do anything risqué at the moment.

"I'm still cold, so I would like to cuddle! Please get on the bed." The blonde asked, and Shinji let out a slight breath of relief, happily doing what Mikado asked and laying down on the mattress. The wizard let out a squeak of happiness as he wrapped himself around the firefighter. Shinji pulled the blankets over them and tried not to faint of embarrassment as Mikado removed his mask and began to cling onto him tightly.

"So, are you alright now? You seemed really out of it earlier." Even if the firefighter was flustered, he was still concerned about his boyfriend's state from earlier.

"Cold isn't exactly very good for fire wizards, remember?" Mikado huffed, nestling his face into the flustered firefighter's chest. "We are much calmer and more aware when we're kept warm, and you're the hottest person I know, both literally and figuratively."

As Shinji could only get out stutters to the wizard's well-aimed flirt, Mikado buried his face into the firefighter's chest and allowed a smile to appear on his real face as he went back to sleep.
