"Imagine Person A and Person B getting playfully competitive over who loves Person C more. They start to come up with various, creative ways to flirt and woo Person C just to prove that one loves Person C more than the other. (Bonus if it gets more and more crazy as they try to upstage each other.)"

When Nikei came home, he didn't expect to not hear anybody in the living room watching TV. There was just radio silence as he looked around in confusion. Their cars were in the driveway, what was going on?
"Hello? Kanade, Mikado? I'm home." He called, taking off his coat and hanging it up before starting to investigate.
The first place he checked was the kitchen, where Mikado normally resided if he wasn't doing other housework. Thankfully, the wizard was already there, but he was so focused on cutting up pieces of meat that he didn't notice Nikei enter the kitchen. Nikei waited until Mikado put the knife down to take a breather before clearing his throat to get his boyfriend's attention.
"Ah, Nikei! My apologies, doll, I never noticed you enter. How was work today?" Mikado greeted, his posture softening to welcome the smaller boy.
"...Why is this place so quiet? Where's Kanade?" The journalist questioned. "You two are usually having a back-and-forth while watching something when I show up, but she isn't here. What's up with that?"
"Ah, that..." The wizard went quiet. "It seems that Ms. Hibiki intends to move overseas and break up their little band, so Kanade is quite upset about that. She's been crying in her room as soon as she heard the news, I doubt she'll come out anytime soon. I'm...not quite sure what to do here."
"Well, obviously, we need to cheer her up somehow. We should probably try to find ways to show her that she's not alone, even if Hibiki's gone." Nikei suggested. "Maybe show her that we're still in her corner, that we still love her. Something like that."
"Ah, that's a good idea. I'll begin planning immediately." Mikado quickly got to preparing the food again, taking the small pieces of lamb that he had cut up and scraped them all into a frying pan and grabbing a few sauces to put on them.
"Hold on, now, who said you'd be planning anything?" Nikei chuckled. "If anything, I should try and cheer her up, since you're practically clueless."
"Oho, are you proposing a little competition then? Well, if it's for the sake of our Kanade, I'll accept your little challenge. Why don't you get a head start while I make supper?" Mikado then beckoned the journalist forward with one hand, and the two of them shared a kiss before Nikei raced upstairs to their room.
He slowed down before the door and slowly opened it, scanning the room and spotting their girlfriend bundled in blankets on the bed. She was laying down, he guessed that she was tired from crying, and he walked over to her and sat beside her on the bed. Her eyes fluttered open, red from crying, and she smiled when she saw him.
"Nikei..." She cooed, adjusting herself so that her head rested on his legs. "Mmm...you're so cold..." She happily purred at his body temperature.
"Well, yeah, I just got back from work. It really is chilly today." Nikei remarked with a chuckle. "Hey, mind moving your head? Mikado's making lamb for supper, and that'll probably take a little while since he makes quite a few appetizers for us too. That'll be enough time to cuddle before then."
"Fufu, I can't say no to that, can I? It's not everyday that you get cuddly." The guitarist moved over once again and let Nikei position himself in bed, and she squirmed her way into his arms to be the little spoon. The journalist listened until he heard her breathing even out, and he went to sleep as well.
Of course, everything that was on his mind was his and Mikado's little competition to cheer Kanade up. The next day, Mikado bought Kanade some tubs of ice cream, so Nikei took her to the arcade downtown. Mikado took the three of them out to a fancy restaurant, and Nikei bought tickets to a movie that Kanade showed interest in. All the while, the boys kept playfully trying to one-up the other.
One night, Kanade finally caught on to what her boyfriends were doing, and she brought up the topic when the two of them took her to an amusement park. "Wow, I'm surprised that you guys managed to get us all for this place." She remarked. "I mean, you did spend a lot of money on restaurants, that movie place... I know Mikado's a hacker, but how did you get the money, Nikei?"
"What can I say? The devil works hard, but freelance journalists work harder." Nikei joked. "We just wanted to make you happy, that's all."
"Oh, so this was to cheer me up? Aww, thank you, guys!" She giggled. "Though with all the money-spending, and the fact that you both keep taking me to an expensive place without the other...are you guys trying to outdo each other?"
"Ah, oh dear. It seems we've been caught." Mikado's mask blushed in embarrassment. "You see, we wanted to have a friendly competition in order to cheer you up, but we did agree that we should truce after this trip in order to not go bankrupt. It was really all in your best interest."
"Ehehe, you're both too adorable. And predictable, I should have known that you'd even compete to cheer me up, that's just so like you." The guitarist held their hands tighter. "But thank you both, you really did help me lots."
As Kanade began to drag them both to attractions that she was interested in, the boys looked at each other and nodded while smiling at each other. It seemed that their 'fierce' rivalry was good for something after all.
