Second update today so yay!
CHAPTER 18
Location Unknown...
The next time she woke, Asya was alone. The cold windowless room was empty and the walls barren with just a bed and small desk lamp, placed on the floor, supplying an artificial light to stave off the darkness. There was nothing provide a clue as to where she was or even the time. The silence was so loud that paranoia easily took hold making even the shadows seem daunting. Long moments passed before the knob turned and door opened. A stranger walked in with a tray.
"You're pulse is becoming erratic please calm yourself or I'll have to use more sedative. No one is going to hurt you." the woman said calmly.
Without her fox's senses, Asya couldn't tell for sure what the woman was but by mannerisms alone. She would guess the stranger was a vampire.
"Where's Shula?"
"Your friend is safe," The woman said walking closer making Asya shrink back. "But I thought it best that I speak to you first." she said
"Who are you?"
"My name is Eesha." she replied setting the tray on the bed with what looked like a bowl of soup, a glass of water, and some crackers on the side. "I am a vampire."
Asya swallowed the lump in her throat. She couldn't quite figure the woman so she assumed the obvious. "You work for 'them?'"
"I work for no one." Eesha said taking a seat on the only chair in the room. The vampire's moments were slow almost lethargic so not to startle her guest. That consideration put Asya more at ease then any words spoken. "You're here because the annoying redhead wants redemption. After all the wrong, you get a chance at revenge."
Asya was curious. "How? Why?"
"Red knows where the Death Dealer is hiding. We'll help you."
"Why the hell would I trust her or you?"
"You can't. I'm a stranger and Red has obviously done you wrong. But when you've lived a while you learn to read people fairly well. I see the sincerity in her. At this point she's willing to die for her atonement."
"What's in it for you?" Asya asked suspiciously
"A purpose. Like Trish I have none at the moment. Might as well do some good while I can."
Asya was quite for a moment but once again curiosity won. "What brought about her sudden change of heart?"
"Fell in love with an asshole who had a Beloved."
Asya was well acquainted with falling in love with an asshole who had someone else. In that moment Asya felt more like her old self than she had for quite some time. She immediately began to fantasize all the things she was going to do to Night when she saw his cheating ass next. Dameon had this lovely cleaning lady named Shelby who specialized in body disposals. Perhaps she could arrange a special acid bath for her mate. According to ShelbyWinds, it cleans the meat right off the bone before dissolving the bone. Author is going to have to take her fellow author's word for it because the FBI is already flagging her search history for "killing people with magnets."
"Where's the pouch I had in my pocket?" Asya asked.
"The witch has it. She said that there's something living in it."
Asya nodded. "My fox. I need it back."
The vampire looked puzzled, "So you're a fox? I knew a fox a couple of decades back. He was mated to a crow shifter."
