The dark gray skies poured out their bounty upon the already soaked emerald green earth. The sheets of rain adding to the already over laden gutters and streams. A lone figure sat by the window, his thoughts and feelings echoing the melancholy of the day.
"Josh, darling?" a woman called out to him. "Are you coming to dinner?"
"Of course." he said quietly, before holding up the book in his hand. "Just let me finish this chapter."
The beautiful woman smiled before turning to leave him to his thoughts.

He loathed her. He resented being turned into a monster without his permission. He hated being cut off from the only family he had left, his friends, and the girl he had loved. She kidnapped him and then controlled every aspect of his life.
The fact that he was undeniably attracted to her and felt a literal spark each time they touched, infuriated him. Her beauty, grace, and intelligence along with her love and compatibility made her perfect for him. But it made him all the more angry and frustrated. He felt trapped and suffocated. She destroyed his life then expected him to be fine with it. She took him away from the one who needed him the most.

Flashback...
His sister was going to love the cake he bought for her birthday which was today. Things had been rough these last few years. Both sets of grandparents died, followed by their parents. They had no one but each other and Tori, his girlfriend. Tori was an absolute angel and a huge support in their lives at a time when everything seemed to be falling apart.
Right now he was picking Tori up from work at a cafe. Both of them went to college and worked hard to establish themselves in the world when both of them came from nothing. The door to the cafe opened and Tori popped out.
"Perfect timing." she said as her untamable mane floated around her head.
Josh smiled brightly as she latched onto his arm and began to walk the short distance to the apartment the siblings shared.
