CHAPTER 39 (MATURE CONTENT)
Hidden Castle in the Cold Mountains...
Pastel wallpaper decorated with intricate designs lined the bedroom walls. A plush cream-colored rug was spread over the beautiful wood floor. Matching mahogany cabinets, dressers, and a 4-post bed covered with a cozy white and pink-gold flowers duvet screamed of luxury. The en suite bathroom was just as opulent with it's marble countertops and porcelain sinks. The huge high back claw foot tub sat in one corner and the other held a large grey tiled shower stall with a waterfall head.
It was a gorgeous prison.
Evangeline sat on her window seat looking out over the beautiful yet barren snow-covered mountains. She was a prisoner here. Locked away in a tower with no hope of escape. Everyday she lost a bit more of her sanity, every night added to her guilt. The lonely days made her long for night to escape the tormenting thoughts running through her mind. Though she dreaded it, at least at night she could try to fight the devil in her life.
The sun set without her notice and the sound of the locking mechanism clicking cause her to stiffen. The air pressure in the room changed as the door swung open but she refused to look. She would not give Him any consideration and was determined to ignore him.
The light clatter of a tray being set on the table in the corner let her know that he wanted her attention. He was always silent, moving like a ghost in the shadows. The warmth of his body pressed lightly against her still frame, made her shiver. She hadn't realized that she was cold.
"So stubborn, little mouse." Her captor chuckled against neck, inhaling her scent and pressing a heated kiss to her cool skin.
Lord James pulled away. Evangeline watched in the window's reflection as he adjusted the thermostat. A moment later, a warm fleece blanket was draped over her shoulders. She hated it. She hated every small gesture, every kind word, every act of care. She hated him.
"I see you haven't painted anything yet Little Mouse." He commented as he picked up a wide brush off the small stand that held some painting supplies. An easel stood next to the stand with a neat pile of unused canvases behind it. Painting had been one of her passions but now she would never pick up another brush because He wanted her too.
Her thoughts burned with anger and regret with how he knew everything about her.
Fresh tears flowed down her face as her body betrayed her once again. The moans of pleasure fell from her lips like acid. Her heated core trembled with the need for release as the she was brought to the edge of ecstasy. Yet he would not relent.
"Tell me something about yourself, Little Mouse and I will let you cum." He said placing a kiss on her trembling clit. She shuddered with desire. Telling him anything personal felt as though she were giving away a piece of her soul that should only belong to her Other Half. She had no say in what he forced upon her body but what was locked away in her heart and mind had become sacred in her eyes. Now he wanted to take everything from her. Each day a bit of her mind broke just a little bit more.
"Painting." She gasped as he stroked her.
He smiled satisfied. "Cum for me Little Mouse."
He fingers pushed her over the edge. Her body quaked in relief while her heart shriveled and her soul became more tainted.
Picking her up as if she were a feather, Lord James carried her to the small table and sat in the larger of the two cushioned wooden chairs. Not wanting to be in his lap, Evangeline tried to move away but he held her firm. Giving up with a sigh, she knew he would not relent. He reached over and pulled the heavy lid from the tray.
On the white platter was her favorite dish artfully arranged. Had this been done by her Other Half she would have melted at his thoughtfulness. The resentment boiled over. Another favorite thing in her life, ruined. She flung the tray away making a mess against the wall. Shocked at her behavior, Lord James to loosen his grip for a moment and she wrenched away from him.
"I HATE YOU!" she screamed. "I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!"
A dark rage clouded Lord James' mind and all he felt was the raw slice of each word cutting like a razor to his heart. All these years of torturing conditioned him to react in a way that only brought pain. No longer aware of his actions as his mind blanketed under his blinding angry, he roughly ripped off her clothes and tied the small Sprite facedown to the bedposts. Going to the chest of drawers in the corner, he picked up a thin rod of bamboo.
His mind constantly replaying her sincere words of hatred. Strike after strike Lord James continued to rain down punishment. The royal torturer didn't know long he stood there but when awareness sunk in, the first thing he noticed was the silence. He froze mid swing and looked down.
He wasn't prepared for the horror before him. Delicate skin was bloodied and bruised. Deep cuts in multiple places. She lay there so utterly still that terror shot through his entire being. Frantically feeling for a pulse, he was both relieved and scared when he found the unnaturally slow beat.
Racing across the room, he ripped open the door and shouted for his butler to fetch a healer. Returning to Evangelina's side, Lord James quickly untied her wrists and ankles that had been rubbed raw by the ropes, a testament to her struggle. Carefully turning her onto her side so she could breathe easier, he brushed the curls from her face, choking on the lump in his throat seeing her pale cheeks wet with tears. Lightly covering her with a blanket while keeping the bloody wounds untouched, he moved away.
Lord James stood, waiting for the healer, at the side of the bed. He greedily stared at each shallow rise and fall of her chest assuring him that she lived. It was unbearable watching the only one who held the warm beat of his cold heart, struggle to breathe. He had done this. He had hurt his love. He had ruined her forever.
If only he could have told her the truth...
================================
It was hard rewriting this a second time but I think it turned out much better than the first time.
