CHAPTER 46

Rogue Lands...

The bass music blasted while Dameon was in his element riling up the boisterous crowd. The excitement was almost tangible. The bookies were kept busy keeping track of the bets placed by the hundreds of werewolves and vampires packed around the open arena. Even a few of the older, more dignified, vampires clapped enthusiastically for fighters who decided to take to the ring before the main event.

In a small private box above melee, Eesha and Trish stood watching the as a new vampire circled the young shifter in a friendly yet bloody fight. From their position, they could not see the main platform where Dameon called out encouragements to the pair while keeping a watchful eye to make certain that neither were badly hurt. Eesha winched as the roar of the crowd became deafening and painful to her sensitive ears as the werewolf gained the upper hand against his opponent.

The bell rang and the young werewolf raised his arms in triumph as Dameon announced him as the winner. Trish fidgeted. She felt antsy as if something beyond her control was waiting. The Rogue King's voice made her anxious. She wished that she had taken Eesha's suggestion and met Dameon Wilde before the fight. But she was too busy struggling with depression and had no outlet since her vampire roommate would no doubt stop her if she tried to cut herself. Instead, she found herself indulging in an unhealthy amount of chocolate and ice cream. Unfortunately, the extra sugar in her system did nothing calm her nerves.

Why was she here? She wasn't a good person.

Eesha placed her palm on Trish's hands, distracting her from her thoughts. Trish met the vampire's gaze. A look of understanding passed through Eesha's eyes and Trish knew that this strong woman knew her and didn't condemn her for her sins. "Remember to instruct the Spirit Walker not to kill him." Eesha said quietly.

Trish nodded as the doors opened. The Beta walked in. "You up next." He said.

Taking a deep breath, Trish nodded and followed Eesha downstairs. The cheering crowd was overwhelming and the anticipation was thick in the air. This is was the moment everyone was waiting for. Trish's breath caught in her throat as she met the powerful gaze of a beautiful man waiting for them in the arena. Her eyes met his and the rested of the world melted away.

For the first time ever, Trish's soul felt complete and joy bubbled up in the depths of her heart. This was so new and frightening she wanted to faint away. Reality set back in.

She didn't deserve this. She wasn't a good person.

Dameon was frozen in disbelief. He never dreamed that he would find a second chance. His trance was broken as the woman ran away.

Desperate he called out, "MATE!"

Cub Creek Territory...

Night ran a hand through his hair in frustration, cursing as Asya once again evaded him. Searching into the future he knew that chasing after her today was pointless. Tired and needing the calories he retreated to the kitchen for something to eat. He decided to take Ander for a walk instead of playing this game of hide and seek with his mate.

A few minutes later, Asya stepped out the closet, where she had been hiding, when she knew Night was gone.

"You can't avoid him forever." Lucy said.

Asya shrugged, "You managed."

Lucy rolled her eyes, "It's not the same."

A childish giggle caught Asya's attention. Looking out the window she saw Night run side to side holding a little boy on his shoulders. The child looked just like a mini version of Night. Tears sprang to her eyes as Night stop and spun around while the boy gripped his hair letting out a squeal of laughter. The sight tugged her heart and her fox, Layla, wanted to join in the fun already accepting her mate's son as her own. Asya stubbornly refused.

Lucy watched the young woman struggle. "Night was holding onto the past," Lucy said. "It cost you both so much." She placed a hand on Asya's shoulder. "Leave the past where it belongs."

Lythberg...

Lee, Calvin, and Jenna sat on the couch watching Battle Bots and eating hot wings and pizza. Things were awkward for all of them because their wolves were having a hard time coping with the bond. Rayna was jealous of Jenna's wolf, Tina, (Author's Note: I can't remember if I gave her wolf a name yet or if I've used the name Tina. Oh well). Raynor didn't like that his mate was carrying another male's child especially since he hasn't marked her yet. Hector was sad because his mate's human would probably never let him be intimate with his mate again nor could he seek comfort with Jenna because she was his mate's human's mate but he was excited for his future son or daughter. Tina was upset that her mate's human had another mate and wasn't happy. At the same time their human sides had become friends and didn't hold as much resentment because it they accepted that this was a situation beyond their control. They still wanted to kill the Author though. Especially since their relationship now needed a road map.

"HEY!" Lee snapped. "Stop drinking all that damn while you're writing our scenes."

Author: But it's complicated. I hate complicated... which is ironic coming from me.

"If you just ignore her, she'll go away." Calvin reasoned.

"Or we could start having sex." Jenna stated. The Author, Calvin, and Lee's mouth dropped open. "It always makes her uncomfortable."

"Good point." Lee said leaning towards Jenna and placing a kiss on her lips.

Author: "Uhm. Well, I'm leaving. Y'all just have to make things weird."

Jenna pulls back loving how her mate's eyes glow a soft caramel. Gold eyes flash briefly filled with jealousy and sadness.

Tina was always sensitive and caring.

"What do you think Tina?" Jenna asked her wolf.

"She has a mate too." Tina replied sadly. "Rayna would have been our sister. We both love Calvin though as intensely as our mate. I don't mind sharing our mates' love."

Jenna nodded making up her mind. She smiled at Lee as his eyes filled with lust. Calvin stood and started live but Jenna grabbed his hand.

"Sit, please. We need to talk."

==============================

This was a quick add in chapter that I forgot I needed to put in. So it's kinda short.

I also just wanted to say that it doesn't matter if you're single or in a relationship as long as you're happy. If you're not happy then here's an "I love you" and a hug from me to you. There are risks no matter which way you turn, find your happy and remember to let yourself be loved by you.

Happy Valentines!!!
