CHAPTER 56
LaRosse...
Tracy, Jonathan, Gericho, and Li arrived at the house that Gideon's parents owned and were greeted by Gideon.
"Wǒ de érzi! Nǐ yǒnghéng dì nà yī wèi shì rúcǐ měilì. Wǒ děng bùjí wǒ de sūnzimenle!" [My son! Your Eternal One is so beautiful. I can't wait for my grandbabies!] Li said excitedly while smothering Gideon with hugs and kisses.
"Tā zìjǐ háishì gè háizi. Tā hái xūyào hěnduō nián cáinéng zhǔnbèi hǎo." [She is still a child herself. It will be many years before she is ready]. Gideon said before turning to embrace his father.
Greetings exchanged Tracy saw that Hezekiah Mallory was already present. Malachi, Laken, and Stacey would be arriving later. Li took Tracy for a tour of the house making sure to point out that the bedrooms were sound proof while the men smoked cigars and drank a glass of their preferred alcohol.
After dinner, Tracy and Jonathan went over the guest list with Gideon and Hezekiah. It was important that they knew who was who. Gideon also provided a list of known or suspected members of the Prime Purity.
Li and Gericho sat in the corner with a deck of cards.
"Aw. I like it better when we play strip poker." Li said with a pout.
Gericho pulled off his shirt revealing firm muscles and a few tattoos. "Better, my love?"
"Much." Li said shuffling the deck with the finesse of a Las Vegas Blackjack Dealer. "Ooo. How about a game of chess instead?"
Gideon ignored his parents' antics and continued with pulling up another member of vampire royalty. Despite inherited titles, power is what truly mattered in the vampire world. Power could be gained in various forms. Information, strength and gifts, connections, and of course money.
As it stood, a lot of vampires could profit majorly if there was a war. Especially a war on the scale that established some of the oldest vampire lines of royalty. For that reason, all those known for their greed and the wannabes were put on the list of suspects.
Li pointed out the ones she felt weren't a threat because they lack the brains or they would lose too much by joining against the current regime. She also pointed out the ones that had something to gain but could hide their involvement in case thing didn't go as planned. Her knowledge of vampire politics was impressive.
"No not Lord Falcon." Li said watching as Gericho moved his bishop overtaking her pawn and setting the piece on the table.
"He was seen meeting with Lord Ulrich a confirmed member of the Prime Purity." Gideon pointed out.
Li shook her head. "Lord Falcon's Eternal One is a water fairy that he's madly in love with. He always goes to her as soon as his duties as chancellor are over. He only has 20 years left in his term. No one knows because they've hidden their relationship for the last 230 years. If there was an organization that called for the purification of species then Lord Falcon would lose his Beloved." Li explained. "Though I don't understand why there's a need to 'purify' when Ivory White's general and second in command were bonded and yet they are witch and vampire. I suppose what's good for the goose doesn't apply to the gander."
Gideon and Hezekiah were stunned they both knew Lord Falcon personally and thought that he would have been a primary candidate. Their surprise turned into disgust when Gericho smirked at his wife and said something highly inappropriate in Arabic which the author isn't adding because Google translate is making it sound weird.
Gideon groaned at his mother's response before the couple left at vampire speed. Gideon glares at the author. "Was all that really necessary?"
Author: What? I didn't want to have to create extra dialogue.
