CHAPTER 65

Cub Creek Territory...

With preparations underway for a possible attack. The twins and Carrie decided to put off their dates for later. Carrie told Nadine that she could stay in Lythberg until the attacks were over or head back to Rogue Lands. After all, as a rogue she had no obligation to put her life on the line for the pack. The red head declined saying that she's never run from a good fight. She also turned down the offer of a weapon holding up her bag containing her oversized heavy magnet.

"Got everything I need right here and don't you be thinking about sticking me in the back. If I go out, I'm going with a bang up side someone's head."

Carrie smiled. Her first in what felt like forever. She hugged Nadine. "Thank you for being here. But seriously take a gun at least."

Lythberg...

Lee was one of the many called in for the upcoming battle. As much as he didn't want to leave his mates, he knew this was his duty.

"Make sure you check on Skylar for me." Calvin said worriedly. He hadn't been able to reach the baby vampire for a few days. Lee told him that he knew that she was training with Roger and the other Hunters so she might just be busy or tired. Calvin had a mother hen moment but Tracy assured him that Roger wouldn't let anything happen to her. With the new baby coming Lee and Calvin had decided to move onto pack land but they decided to wait until the power transfer ceremony where the new Alphas would take over. Once Salim and Dayton Mason were in position, they could initiate Calvin into their pack.

Today they had planned to go to Cub Creek and start bringing a few things to the house they had been given. Instead, the pack was preparing for battle and Calvin planned to take Skylar and Jenna far from the fighting. They would travel to Jenna's old pack to wait it out. Calvin preferred to be fighting alongside with Lee so he could keep an eye on him. Not being able to watch out for his mate was driving his wolf, Hector, crazy.

Lee placed a kiss on Calvin's lips to calm him. Both males had eventually accepted each other as mates.

Flashback...

Calvin and Lee walked into the sport's bar the was bustling but not over whelming. They took a seat in the corner booth and order a bucket of wings each along with a beer and a plate of nachos. Neither were comfortable with being in public together as a couple. Lee's sister's wolf Rayna rolled her eyes at the pair but she got to spend time with her mate so she didn't care. The last time they went out they went to separate restaurants and refused to be seen together. Pissed, Rayna's rage allowed her to take over and she told Jenna.

Jenna was angry and scolded both men about cheating Rayna of her time with her mate. Scared of the smaller woman, who was threatening them with a broomstick, Calvin and Lee promised to spend time together and Lee even agreed to allow Rayna to take over so that she could spend time with Hector, Calvin's wolf.

Remembering his promise, Lee relaxed and let Rayna push forward. "Good evening my mate." Her deep sultry voice called as her golden eyes shone with happiness.

Hector immediately answered, "Good evening. How are you, love?" taking her hand in his ignoring his human's embarrassment and urge to refrain from public displays of affection.

Rayna shrugged. "Everything is fine."

The two talked and ate just enjoying the meal and ambiance. As they finished their meal, they noticed an older human male sitting alone and glaring at them across the aisle.

"Problem?" Rayna asked raising a brow in challenge.

"Don't you fags have your own place to eat?"

"Seriously?" Calvin asked in shock. He couldn't believe that in this day and age someone would be so blatant in their prejudice.
