CHAPTER 77 (LAST CHAPTER)
Midway Pack Territory...
Shade lay back on her bed in the Midway Pack clinic. The baby was being given some tests by the doctor. The nurse said that they would be a while and that she should get some sleep. She thought about the beach that Skylar had taken her to when they first met. Remembering the last time that her, her parents, and her siblings had gone to that beach. It was when they were about 5 years old. Taking a deep breath, Shade allowed herself to slip back to that place...
The smell of salt water, seaweed, and hot dogs were the first things that Shade could sense clearly as her vision cleared. She could hear the surf and the cries of seagulls as they called to each other in playful banter. The sea breeze blew into her face and the gray clouds blocked the sun. The warm sand tickled her toes as she walked along a bluff. In the distance she saw a young girl and boy sitting on the shore building sand castles while a couple laid entwined on a large beach towel.
Shade felt tears spring into her eyes as she saw the woman sit up and call something to the boy. She recognized her mother and brother. The man lying next to her mother was her father and the little girl was her. Scanning the beach, she wondered where her sister, Shadow, was.
Feeling another presence behind her, Shade turned. A five-year-old Shadow stood there staring off towards the ocean.
"Shade." the little girl said. "I know you're here. I cannot see or hear you but my visions told me that you would be here."
Shade knelt in the sand as sobs burst forth seeing her sister alive.
"I cannot see everything. There are too many shadows in my visions but I do see this. By the time you come here a lot has happened. Our mother has died but I'm not sure how yet. The brother that was supposed to be born is dead as well. His spirit was reborn and was meant to die but I managed to save him. I made a choice, Shade." her lip quivered. "I've either saved Skylar and Night or I've destroyed the world."
"I hope..." a sob burst from her lips. "I hope my daughter and our brother still live because then my sacrifice would not have been in vain."
A pang hit Shade's heart knowing that her sister had sacrificed her life.
"There's something you should know about my choice. It required a price that I fear might have been a mistake." Shadow continued. "I took a gamble... I freed Ivory White."
Shade sat there stunned and the question burst from her lips, "Why?!"
Young Shadow seemed to suddenly look into Shade's eye. "Goodbye sister."
THE END
==============================
Thanks for reading.
How's that for an unexpected ending?
I actually wrote this ending halfway through writing this book. I'm planning on finishing the series in the next book.
Stay tune for the Bonus Chapters... no one suggested anything so I've only written two... sorry no smuts in them. I hope I can include more of the smuts in the next book.
