CHAPTER 72
Ravencroft Manor... (Picking back up from the end of Chapter 70)
"Is that it?" Josh asked as the approached a bizarre machine that had glowing pink crystals in tubes on the side. There was a hole in the ceiling and the top part of the machine fed into it.
A new scent hit them at once and both men freeze as a vampire stepped from the shadows.
"Lord James." The vampire greeted. "I can't say that it's pleasant seeing you but this really isn't a surprise."
"Lord Mallory." The Sprite acknowledged.
The two men intensely stared at each other in challenge.
"So which side of the coin to do sit?" Hezekiah asked.
"Ours." Lucy said walking towards them from the shadows.
"Lady Black." Lord James bowed in respect in the presence of the powerful witch.
"You both should put your pins on. The werewolves who have been bewitched and are under influenced of the collars will not attack you until they are ordered to. It'll give you a slight advantage." Lucy said to Lord James and Josh.
"No one can know that I am here." Lord James said placing the pin on his lapel. "I have to stay in. Whether Queen Rosa of the Sprites will be bound to Ivory White, should she emerge, is questionable. The Prime Purity are already suspicious of Lady Orla and after tonight they'll know that she is a traitor. You have to send her somewhere else. By the way, someone in Cub Creek is selling information."
"We'll look into it." Hezekiah said walking to the machine.
"There's also a wizard providing the Prime Purity with things like the charms. He comes from Cub Creek as well or at least from the area."
Lucy's brows furrowed but now was not the time to worry about sabotage. The constant hum grew to a high-pitched whirl and that group surrounded the machine.
Summoning her powers, Lucy placed a liquid barrier over the portal. Most demons and reapers tended to hate any kind of water. It would buy them some time but not much. Hezekiah examined the generator.
"The crystals are being used to generate the power behind the portal. We need to remove them and pray that it works because we don't have enough time to destroy this machine without some serious backlash. We won't be able to stop the generator itself until it's dismantled. As powerful as it is, I doubt that it'll be able to open a portal and keep it open without the crystals."
"How do we remove them?" Josh asked.
"You have to break them and get them away from the machine. Someone also has to go up to the roof and destroy the ones up there because going to try to send the signals to the other machines. Open one portal and the other machines can replicate according to the blueprints that were on site in Cub Creek." Hezekiah said.
"Josh." Lucy said. "You go and be careful."
A huge crash sounded from the other side and werewolves started to pour into the basement.
Hezekiah began to furiously ripped of and smash the glowing crystals.
"Go now!" he yelled at Josh as the others began fighting the oncoming rush. "Malachi will meet you up there."
Josh rushed through the crowd hitting and dodging the assailants.
-----------------
Exactly five minutes to midnight all hell broke loose. The guards outside the doors were attempting to hold back the oncoming horde. Jonathan followed behind Tracy as they pushed to the front of the crowd. Lady Orla stood at their back.
