CHAPTER 74
Tracy went from one end of the room to another. Some of the vampires were straight up trying to kill all of their attackers despite Hadassah warning them to only cut away the charms from the wolves or snap the necks of those vampires with collars.
"Charms and necks ONLY!" she shouted. "If they don't have either THEN kill them!"
She was beyond frustrated. Her focus as a Protector was centered on the innocent being harmed. It was so much of a distraction that she couldn't do much else. Adding to the shitstorm were feuding vampires that chose to take this as an opportunity to strike with their vendettas which had nothing to do with the reason everyone was fighting in first place.
Jonathan was doing his best to guard his mate's back but with everything going on they seem to end up further and further away from each other. Eli, Jonathan's wolf, wanting to be next to Tracy. Jonathan reminded him that until the fighting was over Tracy would not stop. So instead, man and wolf decided to focus on putting their efforts into ending this battle.
A familiar shriek triggered a memory from long ago as if it were yesterday. Fighting his fear, Jonathan turned to face the ashen face of a Reaper.
"TRACY!" he yelled through the mind link as he dodged the swiping claws.
-------------------
Dameon fought off the werewolves that the former councilman, Yorick Standish, sent his way. Standish smirked when he saw the Rogue buried beneath the bodies of his wolves. The Protector, raced in to help and Dameon burst free from the pile dropping a handful of charms from the now unconscious wolves. Fear shone in the councilman's eye as he ran.
"No." Dameon said as Tracy started to follow.
Pausing, Dameon passed her and called back, "He's mine!"
"TRACY!" She heard Jonathan call her name. She saw him kick a Reaper down. Quickly, she headed back to the fight conjuring a sword as she went.
"JONATHAN!" Tracy screamed throwing an Ebony Sword through the air. Landing a solid kick that brought the creature to its knees, Jonathan caught the sword and rammed it down the Reaper's throat. White ash fell to the ground as Jonathan pushed forward next to Tracy killing the monsters before they could come any closer to the crowd.
Most all of the werewolves had been taken care of and there was several clicking sounds as the collars around the vampires' neck suddenly released. The rogue vampires that were still standing quickly ripped the leather away. Eesha spoke to them trying to calm everyone down.
----------------
Hadassah and Zana were bound by their promise to leave and did so as soon as the Reapers arrived. Both however refused to leave the grounds and simply worked to take out the guards surrounding the military trucks.
Zana opened up a case he found in one of the trucks and whistled.
"What is it?" Hadassah asked looking at the hard black case from the backside. Zana turned it around to face his wife.
A high-power riffle along with a scope and stand sat nestled in the gray foam. Hadassah smiled and walked over to a stack of boxes and pulled out a black metal tin with the stamp "Barrett M82 Ammunition." (Author's Note: I know nothing about guns. I really hope that this one uses a clip and not have to fire one at a time... oh okay it uses a 10 round clip though a 12 one was developed for Operation Desert Storm so we good).
As a future High Queen, Hadassah could mind link other vampires as long as they were nearby even if they were rogues. Using her connection, she linked Hezekiah.
