CHAPTER 57

There was a knock on the door and Gideon went to answer. Returning he was followed by Lucy, Haggai, Dona, and Trish.

Jonathan, Tracy, and Hezekiah stared at Trish.

"Okay I'm just going to go ahead and ask about the red headed walrus in the room." Tracy said eyeing Trish. "Why is SHE here?"

"Skylar." Lucy said with a shrug.

"So, you're on our side now?"

"No." Trish said meeting Tracy's gaze. "I'm on my own side. I have no idea what that means but I'm stuck in this mess that I helped to create so I might as well try to clean it up.

Tracy stared. "What kind of sucky explanation was that?"

"The only one you're getting apparently." Lucy replied. "The author has drank enough coffee to care yet."

"Moving on..." Tracy explained everything they had gone over before asking. "Is there anyway that you can break the enchantment?"

"Breaking the enchantment is easy enough but as long as those charms are in place, Melanie can easily reestablish the connection." Haggai said.

"So how do we remove the charms?" Tracy asked.

"They should be easy enough to spot." Lucy said. "The charms would most likely be on the wolf's head or woven into the human's hair so it doesn't fall off during shifting."

"What do they look like?"

"Tiny rectangular shaped boxes. Each one contains a special potion that channels into a frequency that is controlled by whoever was given the binding charm." Haggai said.

"In this case it'll probably be Standish." Trish added before grimacing. "Grim will be there as well. He believes himself infallible but jumps ship when things don't pan out."

"We'll need the Ebony swords just in case." Lucy said. "Haggai and Dona shouldn't have a problem using them."

"I don't get a sword?" Trish asked.

"No!" Everyone said at once.

"Puddles nobody would trust you with a letter opener." Haggai said.

"How come he gets a sword? He was working with us." Trish pouted as she glared at Haggai.

"I was working to free my Vixen." Haggai grumbled.

"Same thing." Trish sniffed. "Anyways I'll be busy."

"Doing what Puddles?"

"Blocking the bitch witch Melanie. She can summon the Spirit Walkers but that takes a lot of energy. She won't have the strength to control them especially if she summons more than ten."

Haggai was surprised that Trish had thought of that. "I'm slightly impressed for the first time since meeting you."

Jonathan's phone went off. He left the room to take the call.

"So that will be me, Jonathan, Haggai, and Dona with Ebony Swords." Tracy said thinking of the powerful weapons that would aid in this fight. "Asya's not going to be here. What about Henry?"

Lucy shrugged. "Henry is gone. He said that was meeting with another witch to continue training but he didn't give any further details."

"We had better rest up and start preparing." Haggai said.

"Of course." Gideon said showing the group of witches and the wizard to their rooms.

Lady Orla stood and walked over to the chair next to the sideboard where the man, Joshua, sat occupied since arriving.
