CHAPTER 23

Location Unknown...

Despite all their precautions, Trish, Asya, and Shula ended up getting caught in a trap. Eesha had been lucky enough to jump back a second before it sprang.

Trish looked over at the vampire who had shrank back behind some brushes.

"Don't stand th-" Trish stopped as Eesha raised her hand abruptly, signaling silence.

Putting her finger to her lips, Eesha crawled forward. "There are several people coming. Wait here and act scared. I'll rescue you as soon as possible but I don't want to go in blind."

Disappearing in a flash, Trish rolled her eyes. "Well this is some bullshit."

Seconds later the trio found themselves surrounded.

"Oh blessed Creator help us." Shula whispered, taking in the terrifying creatures around them.

Asya was calm. She knew these monsters. Reanimated corpses that served one master. Though she had reconnected with her fox, Layla was still too weak to be of any help. The fact that Asya felt her animal's spirit at all gave her the strength not to shut down. Instead she waited quietly. Absalom thrived on terror and loved to see the victims suffer as they were torn apart by his creatures.

They would drag them to their master and unlike last time. Asya would kill her nightmare because her life wasn't worth living enslaved with fear. Shula held her hand as the cage they were in was picked up and carried.

Trish huffed as she tried to kill one of the dead creatures but nothing happened other than a temporary pause. Looking at her companions, she said, "I'm surprised that you two are so chumy."

"What do you mean?" Shula asked.

"She," Trish said pointing at Asya, "is going to kill the man who raped and tortured her. Your father."

"He's NOT my father." Shula growled. The air around them became thick and heavy. Thunder rumbled in the distance. "Athens Green, the former King of the Dark Fairies and current King of All Sprite and Fairy Kind, IS my father. My only father. That monster is nothing to me."

Asya felt aloof. Despite the revelation, she didn't feel betrayed. She had gone through so much and now the end was within her grasp. All her focus was in killing the Necromancer. She felt a nudge and realized that Shula had been speaking to her. By her expression, Asya could tell that she was asking for forgiveness.

"You better not be apologizing. You are not the asshole who stuck his dick in your mother's coochie. As long as you don't try to stop me then we're still friends."

Shula smiled. "I'll help you dig the hole afterwards."

"Oh we ain't going to need a hole. There's a lovely lady in Dameon's place named Shelby. Works wonders with acid baths."

Shula looked a bit green but gave her a small smile. "Okay then."

Cub Creek Territory...

"So we're in agreement?" Tracy asked. Lucy and Mido shared a long look then nodded. Remi and Skylar sat next to a quiet Lee while Night held up the phone that his sister, Shade, was listening in from.

"Agreed." Shade replied.

"I concur." Night added.

Jonathan, Tracy, and Dayton had already spoken earlier. Looking at the two youngest members, the Protector asked, "Do you two have anything to say?"
