"Oh." He says rolling onto his back and running his fingers thru his hair like he suddenly got a headache. "I'm really trying to be home for Christmas."

Baby J has fallen back asleep laying between us so I try to lower my voice to not wake her.

"I know but I don't want to spend it alone if your not here." I sigh, "Maybe I can go there after I finish all my jobs in LA and then come home when you are."

He thinks on it for a minute before nodding his head. "Yeah that should work. As long as you don't get stuck there or try to stay there forever."

"After this past week I doubt you would notice." I say under my breath.

Turning back on his side towards me he props his head up on one hand then grabs my left hand with his other. "I'm sure I would notice more then you would."

I follow his gaze to my ring finger and for the first time this morning I notice the ring from the black velvet box I found in his pocket decorating my finger. He was awake before me today and I woke up to him bringing baby J into our bed to cuddle so he must have snuck it on my finger while I was sleeping.

I hadn't really looked at the ring before now so I take a moment to examine it on my finger. He obviously had picked out just for me- a thin gold band covered in small diamonds all around it and in the center there was slightly bigger diamond. I liked simple rings where Hero liked more flashy ones so I knew it probably killed him to buy something so plain.

"Its beautiful." I tell him admiring it. His face instantly lights up, pleased that I like it.

"I didn't know how to give this to you before I left LA because I didn't want to scare you or have you run from me. This ring doesn't mean we have to get married tomorrow but it does mean I am committed to you forever and that you are mine." He tells me. "But if your not ready for it I can keep a hold of it until you are."

I admire it for another minute, knowing there is no way this ring is leaving my finger. "Of course I am ready for it but I've always been yours."

He leans over baby J and kisses me before pulling away. "And I've always been yours but now its more official."

I push him back laughing. "I guess that means we need to go get you a ring before you leave huh? So everyone can know your mine as well?"
