Every weekend during the whole bar month, I stayed with him and Kuya Miggy. Ilang beses kong nakitang gustong puntahan ni Kuya Miggy si Ate Trish, pero pinipigilan siya ni Calix. Kuya was so worried about Ate Trish's drinking habits, hindi man niya pinospost, madalas naman nasa story ni Ate Yna.
On his last day of bar, I sent him off with a calm heart, sigurado akong kaya niya, he was more than prepared for it. Four years of law school prepared him for that dream.
I patiently waited outside of UST, with my small placard that said, "I'm so proud of you, baby."
All the shouts and roars of students when one by one of the examinees walked outside, it felt like a nostalgic moment when I did my boards for accountants, my sister and brother waited outside for me, too.
His eyes met mine like a magnet, in a sea of people he found me immediately. All I could offer was a smile of assurance. Lumakad siya palapit sa sakin, hindi alintana ang dami ng tao, at mga taong medyo nasasagi niya sa medyo gulo ng lugar.
"Hi, baby!" I smiled, he wrapped me in his arms. In the midst of the noise, all I could hear was his calm breathing.
"I'm so proud of you, atty." I whispered softly. It made him tighten his hug. I gently tapped his back.
He then looked at me and smiled. "We made it, baby."
Four Sundays that I patiently waited for him. Every Saturday I do all errands for him and even for Kuya Miggy, nahihiya man sila, sabi ko okay lang. Months of review, all our dates were canceled and didn't push through, okay lang sa akin. It's just a simple sacrifice compared to the years he did just so can come this far.
"So what's our first agenda?" I teased him. Natawa siya. Nakita namin si Kuya Miggy, he was with their friends, at s'yempre meron na naman si bruha.
"Let's have dinner with them?" I asked.
"Pake ko sa kanila. Sawa na ako sa kanila." Pagbibiro niya.
"Sira, tara na. Sama tayo, Kuya Miggy told me we'll have dinner together."
Sumama nga kami sa kanila. I'm not sure if I saw it right, parang nakita ko si Ate Trish at Kuya Marco, maybe it's just my imagination, pero may chance din, considering she promised she'll do bar-ops for Kuya Miggy.
"Ano, Trina, worth it bang apat na linggo kang ginawang alila ng boyfriend mo?" Natatawang sabi ni Jeff. I refused to call the asshole Kuya, I don't like them to be honest, mukha silang fuckboy, how did I know?
I called him Kuya pati si Kuya Patrick, I heard Kuya Patrick is courting Ate Gab.
"Bakit wala Ate mo?" Tanong ni Sean, na isa rin sa kinaiinisan ko. Isa ring babaero 'tong gagong 'to. I saw him and Dominic once in a bar, that time hindi pa ata nila alam na kami ni Calix, they really gave me a drink, as if I couldn't buy one for myself, baka bilhin ko pa sila.
"Bakit tanong kayo nang tanong? Kung wala dito, 'wag niyo na hanapin. Tanga ka?" Sabi ni Kuya Patrick. I can see it clearly bakit close sila ni Ate Gab, pareho silang prangka.
"Kumain na kasi." Singit ni Angeliquè. Isa pa 'tong pa-madre na 'to. As if hindi ko alam ano ginawa niya. The audacity to tell people what to do. Kung tingnan ako parang kaya niya akong bilhin, excuse me, Trishabella didn't raise a weakling, I stared at her blankly. Nauna siyang sumuko.
