I just waited for him to finish taking a bath, ininit ko muna ang ulam at mga inorder ko. And since I know he'll read a case tonight, I brewed coffee for us.
"Kain na," yaya ko pagkalabas niya. He was carrying his iPad, kaya alam kong may trabaho pa talaga siya.
"Do that later, kain ka muna."
Can you check our account? Hindi ko pa naayos ang sa delivery." Malambing na sabi niya.
I smiled.
That alerted him. "Seriously? I'm sorry, the cases in the office just piled up easily."
I touched his hand and squeezed it. "It's fine. That's the reason we're partners, right? 'Yong hindi mo magagawa, ako ang sasalo. Just tell me when things get heavy, I'm willing to help. Though with your cases I can't help, bawal diba? Confidentiality?"
"Yeah," he mumbled. "But, with the business you have the authority. You have your shares and what's mine is yours, too."
"Anong ginawa niyo sa Singapore? Akala ko ba two days lang kitang hihintayin, bakit naging four days pa?" Tanong niya.
"Blame your brother. Nag-enjoy sila masyado."
"Uuwi muna siguro ako bukas, may two weeks pa bago 'yon, diba?"
"Hahatid kita?"
"'Wag na. Papasundo na lang ako sa driver. Male-late ka pa." Sagot ko.
"Magle-leave din next month si Miggy. Alam mo ba saan pupunta Ate mo?" Biglaang tanong niya.
"Tutuparin niya?"
"I don't know. I'm not close with her accountant. Patanong ko bukas. And what makes you think na pupunta si Ate kahit wala na sila?"
He shrugged. "Miggy was confident that your sister would go."
Why is he asking me, then? Japan, diba?"
Natawa siya dahil nairita ako. "Sungit! Baka daw mag-iba 'yong pupuntahan ng Ate mo. Well, he's asking Gab, pero wala pa naman daw sinasabi si Trish."
"If they promised that it's Japan, then it's Japan. She'll not change that.
"Marco and Yna have plans, I guess.
"You're creepy. Grabeng bromance 'yan, nagseselos na ata ako." Natatawang sabi ko.
"He got my back, and I got his.
I wrinkled my forehead. "Did you get the Dela Paz case? 'Yong murder case?"
"Yeah," he answered, slowly. "Walang gustong tumanggap, naawa ko. She was framed up, I'm sure of that."
