Chapter 43

For the first month of my bar review, every day he slept in Rylie's unit too. Sa unang buwan na 'yon halos inaabot kami ng alas kwarto para magreview, he was a big help. Lahat ng kailangan ko siya 'yong naghahanap, kahit minsan siya na yung sumasalo sa inis ko, wala siyang reklamo.

"Baby, we have a week long convention in Cebu," he informed me casually. "Okay lang wala ako ng isang linggo?"

"Okay lang," banayad kong sagot. "Sino kasama mo?"

"Mga lawyer din sa firm siguro."

"Si Kuya Miggy?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. We haven't talked for a week? Busy 'yon sa case na pinasa ko."

"Okay," I murmured. "Ingat ka."

He left on my second month of review, tumatawag naman siya sa mga oras na break time ko. I was thoroughly informed with his whereabouts and even the flow of the seminar, sinasabi niya lahat. Sa mga unang mga araw ay panatag ako.

"What's with the frown?" Riley commented. Na-extend 'yong seminar nila ng ilang araw, may imi-meet daw sila.

"He's not replying," I uttered. "Kagabi pa."

"Then, call."

"I tried many times," I replied. 

"Then, try again," Riley insisted. "Baka busy siya noong tumatawag ka."

I called him, one ring after, one familiar voice answered. "Hi, how may I help you?"

I creased my forehead, Riley looked at me confusedly. "Can I speak to Calix?"

"May I ask first who am I speaking with?" His secretary asked me proudly. Wow!

Ano naka-save na name ko kung ganoon? Tuldok lang kaya tinatanong? I held my anger, I didn't speak a word for seconds or minutes.

"He's actually taking a bath," she said, sensually. "May I know who's this? I'll just tell him you called. But, I can't assure you he'll call you, we'll do something after his bath, or I might join him."

My mouth dropped. I couldn't say any. Sa halakhak pa lang niya iba na pakiramdam ko. Inagaw agad ni Riley ang cellphone ko noong napatulala na lang ako. But, the bitch ended the call.

Tears flowed down my face like streams. I sobbed like I lost a loved one. Agad akong niyakap ni Riley.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

My lips felt numb. "I don't know."

"Trin, what happened? Anong sabi ni Kuya Calix? Bakit umiiyak ka?"

I hugged him tightly. "I think he's cheating on me."

"What?!"

My throat felt sore from crying. "'Yong secretary niya 'yong sumagot. Una tinanong niya sino ako... So hindi nakasave number ko? That asshole! Then, she said naliligo si Calix, sasabihin daw niyang tumawag ako, pero baka daw matagalan kasi may gagawin pa sila or sasamahan niya maligo 'yong pinsan mo!"

He caressed my head. "Stop crying. We'll ask Kuya Paulo if Kuya Calix really stayed in his unit. But, don't jump to conclusions, 'wag kang padalos-dalos."

"Iba 'yong boses niya! Ang sensual. I hate him!"

"Trin, calm down. I'll call Kuya Paulo."
