I was running rapidly towards our house. I was excited to burst out my glee to my mother for the first time because I am one of the top students in our section in this school year. I didn't make it to the first spot, but it was really fine that I made it to the second spot. Alam ko namang proud sila Mama sa 'kin, knowing that she has already changed.

"Ma! I'm one of the top students!" I excitedly burst out my happiness when I saw her in front of her laptop at the sala.

She promptly cast a glance at me. Para akong bumalik sa pagkabata dahil naalala ko ang mga oras na masayang-masaya akong umuuwi sa bahay para ipakita sa kaniya ang malaking marka ko sa isang subject.

"Talaga?" She smiled.

My father wasn't still around, so I guess, he's still at work. I quickly went near her, still plastering my wide smile.

Nagmano agad ako sa kaniya. I wasn't still used that she doesn't shake my hand away anymore sa t'wing nagmamano ako... because that was her usual act that I've already memorized. Ngayon kasi sa tuwing nag-mamano ako ay nakangiti niya lang akong hinahayaan. She has really changed a lot for the past months.

"Oo naman! Pasensiya noon na palagi kitang pini-pressure na umabot ka sa pinakaunang spot sa honor roll, ha? I just want you to know as well that for the past school years, even if I didn't say even once that I'm proud of you, I really was. And today, I'm proud of you, Anak..."

Warmth quickly enveloped my heart. Those were the words that I've been craving to hear from her since I was in grade school.

"Thank you, Ma. I've been waiting for those words to come from you..." I embraced her.

She embraced me back. After that, she repeatedly apologized again for what she did. Hindi nakasasawang pakinggan dahil iyon din talaga ang gusto kong marinig sa araw-araw, for me not to forget and everyday remember that she has really changed... Ang dami ko ring natutunan sa kaniya. He often talks about God. I can say that he's one of the believers that has a strong relationship with Him. It made me fall even more. He drew me closer to Him.

My phone vibrated. Kinuha ko agad 'yon at sinagot ang tawag niya. Maingay ang background nang masagot ko.

Tawa agad niya ang narinig ko bago siya nagsalita, "Julienne! Tambay tayo roon sa may duyan sa bakuran namin. May maganda rin akong balita sa 'yo, hehe. Sinabi na rin kasi ang top students sa section namin."
