Chapter 34
"The song was already done. Why are we still swaying?" natatawa kong tanong.
For the first time after the day tito Rico died, I heard his chuckles... his iconic and genuine chuckles without any trace of pretending.
"I miss this kind of chuckle of yours... 'yong totoo mong mga tawa at ngiti. I miss you..." I held his face.
He kissed my forehead after that.
"I miss you, too... Thank you so much for being always here on my side...
Being with you today on my day is already a grand celebration for me. Dancing you... is already a grand cotillion for me, my first and last dance."
"Aray!" He frowned at me.
He was wearing a white t-shirt that has a logo of VSU with his ID, and slacks, so I guess, he's still from school.
He was talkative about what happened on his day at school when I asked him. I never get bored like the usual dahil natatawa ako sa tuwing may kalokohan siyang kinukuwento. Of course, he's Caleb.
I was glad that despite of his problem, he still tried and managed to smile and laugh.
My eyes fixed on the nearest coffee and bar in front of us.
"Tara... Gutom na rin ako." Caleb held my wrist towards the said place.
The sun already set and touched the horizon, and left a breathtaking vision as the hue of thick orange pervaded on the entire sky. It really always reminds me that the ending can be beautiful, too.
The hue of the sunset still reflects here.
We sat on the chair in front of the table with two chairs. I roamed my eyes around.
I frowned while nodding. I have my own money but like the usual, wala nang saysay para mag-pabebe.
Maybe you can try it, too. Masarap 'yan."
I checked the menu.
One waiter strode towards here to ask for our orders. Caleb stated two Clubhouse Sandwich, for him and for me, a cassava chips, and coffees. Cappuccino for me and Mocha for Caleb. Paborito niya rin daw 'yong Mocha.
