"𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐍𝐄
𝐟𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞"Leaving a house is easy, leaving home is very very hard. Returning home brought out joy from within Aang.
Monk Gyatso says leaving home is part of growing, of moving forward into new challenges. And that's what Aang did. On his journey to master all four elements, Aang built social relationships, opportunities to learn and grow, and commitment.
First stop on his journey, North Pole. Aang spent a couple of months in the North Pole and was able to learn and develop waterbending. He observed and studied how waterbending concentrates on the flow of energy, focusing less on strength and more on turning the opponent's own energy against them through his teacher, Pakku.
Next, Aang found himself in Omashu located in the Southwestern Earth Kingdom where he was taught by an earthbending master, Bumi. He taught him earthbending lies in both offense and defense. And when Aang struggled to learn earthbending, the reason seemed simple enough: earth is the opposite to the element of air, his native element.
Earthbending is in contrast to airbending as airbending's emphasis is on avoidance and mobility as he cleverly evades his opponent's attacks while earthbending's emphasis is on endurance and strength.
Lastly, Aang arrives in the Fire Nation. At first, Aang was afraid of the element and he tend to admit it many times. He watched how firebenders can create fire using their internal heat source and in addition controlling already existing flames.
For fear of hurting the people he loves, Aang avoids the use of firebending as a tool of domination or destruction. Because if he did, he would go against his values as an Air Nomad. But he learned that just like any other element, fire can be used for good or evil, despite its difficulty to control it.
But Aang has yet to master all three elements, aside air bending of course. Almost two years away from home, Avatar Aang has finally arrived back home in the Southern Air Temple.
"Momo!" The young man exclaims happily at the flying lemur. He laughs uncontrollably when Momo tackles him to the ground out of joy. "We missed you too, little guy." Aang pats Momo's head.
"Have you seen Gyatso anywhere?" Aang wears a questionable look on his face and airbends himself off the floor. "That's weird, I sent a letter informing my return." He scans his surroundings.
Aang shrugs it off and heads to his room.
On his way there, Aang couldn't contain or prevent the joy and pleasure when seeing his friends who greeted with the same amount of joy he had. "Aang is back!" Or "What a surprise to see you here!" They'd say and Aang would answer with "Good to see you again, friend!" Or "Just wanted to come home and relax for a couple of days."
