"𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑
𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞""Katara!" Hakoda shouts making Katara spin around to notice her father.
Hakoda's eyes swell with tears as he embraces his daughter into his arms. "Sweetheart, I am so glad to see you're okay." He let his tears of happiness run down his face. "I prayed to the Spirits every day in hope that you'd come back to me one day. I am so sorry I didn't come looking for you straight away."
Katara shakes her head. "No, Dad. I wouldn't want you to be where I was, it'd pain me to see you suffer. I'm just happy you're alive, too."
Hakoda forms a soft smile. "Of course, my love. Let's not get separated again, mh?"
The princess looks up to him and weeps. "Okay, Dad." She beams while Hakoda pats her head and plants a kiss on her forehead.
Katara has his support always. He would walk through the gates of hell to keep her safe, Sokka too, and feel honoured to be given the chance, feeling only gratitude. Sokka and Katara were a sacred gift, his and Kya's.
His eyes land on the gloomy firebender, who sat in solitary in his cell, and sighs. He takes Katara's shoulders and adjusted his posture to her height. "Listen, I... Sokka told me about what happened between you two... and Toph."
Katara clears her throat. "I can handle him. You see..." She slowly looks at Zuko and then back to Hakoda. "He's Zuko. Prince... Prince Zuko." She says.
Hakoda's eyes widen in surprise while Aang, who watched them from a distance, finally comes to a realisation as to why Zuko's name sounded familiar. He was a royal member of the Fire Nation, son of Ozai and Ursa. He learned about him during his time in the Fire Kingdom a couple of months ago, Aang was quite fascinated about his family to why they attacked.
"Prince Zuko? How did he end up with Toph, though?" Hakoda frowns in confusion as he resumed to analyse the young man. "His injuries... They don't seem to be done by our warriors or soldiers. Did he get attacked by his own people?" His curiosity explicitly encircled his thoughts.
"I guess we're going to find out soon." Princess Katara announces. She gives Hakoda another tight hug and turns away.
She locks eyes with a pair of grey ones, the same eyes she grew to love the more she looked into them. Aang smiles and raises his thumbs as a sign of encouragement, Katara's heart skips a beat and she clears her throat before flashing him a smile back.
