𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚"

Princess Katara scowled as the maid pulled knots from her hair. She rubs the tiredness out of her eyes as they fall on the tiara, as uncomfortable as if it were made of sharp pins.

Katara sighs heavily just thinking about the busy day that her father, Hakoda, planned ahead.

Her mind was on a grand escape
plan, a way to get out and be a regular person. There must be a clown out there stupid enough to want to be a princess, some pea-brain who thought happiness could be contained in densely sitting down on a throne for an entire day or attending meetings to discuss changes that should take place for the kingdom.

Not that she hated being a princess but sometimes it was just too much.

"We're almost done, Princess Katara." The maid informs her.

Katara forms a smile on her face, "Thank–" Her breath flew from between her lips
as the corset was pulled tight, a knobbly
knee pressed into her back for leverage.

"Too tight?" The maid asks just to receive a glare in response.

"Take it off." Katara demands not too harshly.

The maid jumps but regains her composure instantly, "O– Of course, Your Highness."

"And I don't want to wear the tiara either, it's uncomfortable. My hair looks fine without it." Katara tells her as she runs her fingers through her thick wavy hair. "I'm going down to the village this afternoon." She announces.

The maid grimaces, "But your father said you must attend the meeting this afternoon–"

"He'll live." Katara interrupts her. She smiles excitedly seeing her reflection in the mirror before turning to the maid's direction. "Thank you for helping me this morning, you are dismissed."

The maid bows, "My pleasure, Princess Katara." She walks out of the door and closes it behind her as Katara releases a breath of relief the moment the maid was gone.

Alone, at last.

Katara had this feeling there was always a pair of eyes watching her every movement in the castle. Probably because it was true.

The princess cannot be let out of sight, that was the king's order. In case she'd collapse out of nowhere she can get help as soon as possible.

"I'm not dying." She remembers telling her father. "These are just precautions." Hakoda answered back. It was useless arguing, that's just how protective her father was towards her.

She shakes the thoughts out of her head and grins in excitement once she leaves her room to leave the castle, almost running to push those double doors out of her way.
