A scream was heard and it had a raw intensity to it that told of urgency and desperate need.

The population of the Southern Water Tribe began screaming as if they found themselves in a world that made no sense at all. The children's skins craved cuddles and their minds craved the rocking sensation of being carried by their mothers.

Aang hurriedly urges Appa to land and hops off his back. "Buddy, I need you to go back to the barn with Momo and keep yourselves away from here." The Avatar positions the lemur onto the sky bison and nudges the furry animal who had no intention of leaving him behind. "Please, go!" He desperately commands and grabs his glider.

Appa rebels with a roar but obeys his commands and takes off into the air, heading back to the barn as he was told while Momo held onto Appa.

The airbender watches them disappear into the sky and releases a breath of relief he didn't know he was holding.

The smell of smoke had the people of the Water Tribe move right away, no time for the belongings, family only. Aang hears the flames devour all that these people have built these past few years and reminisces the Air Nomads into his mind.

What happened to his people was happening to another nation in front of his eyes, how could he have thought of abandoning this kingdom behind? He felt disappointed and unhappy with himself.

"Mommy!" A kid, who Aang assumed got separated from his mother, cries not so far away from where Aang was standing. "Where are you, Mommy?! I'm scared!"

Instinctively, Aang approaches the crying child and opens his arms to him, "Shh, it's okay! I can help you find your mommy!"

The kid sobs, "Can I trust you?"

Aang breaks into a warm smile and nods his head in response, gesturing to come to him.

Unexpectedly, a fireball gets shot in their direction and the Avatar takes the kid under his protection and ducks as the fireball lands and explodes on a house, it shook him. As the child wept, Aang watched a part of someone's life burn to the ground.

And that's when he realised that same fire will take what is alive and sacred to him and cast them as confetti into the sky, first glowing red before cooling to black. It was time he fulfils his duty as the Avatar or else he'd have to watch everyone stand on the ashes and pray for the spirits of their loved ones who dwelt in villages and cities that they found a safe harbor.

Aang squeezes the child closer to him and gets themselves off the ground while a woman in the distance runs toward them in tears. "Zonraq! There you are!"

"Mommy!" The kid, Zonraq, stretches his arms out to his mother as Aang lets the woman take him. "Oh my! Thank you so much for protecting my child, I am so grateful- How could I thank you?!"
