Aang figured out a duty as the Avatar was to ensure peace throughout the world. People certainly recognised his role more when he defeated Ozai, two years ago.

And he continued to bring peace, and it wasn't constantly easy. Saving the world was more a process of evolution than revolution, the changes within this process were done gradually. Instead of sudden changes that could easily be undone, Aang with the assistance of others generated methods and approaches that produced a better, more ethical, more wholesome result.

Whether it was education or medical care, industrial processes or agriculture, every system was designed to become less polluting and give better results year on year. It worked, of course it did.

Avatar Aang sat at his desk with paperwork and strolls from all over the world piling higher and higher. Requests to visit a few cities and villages, high-class parents asking to marry their daughters, invitations to celebrations in his honour, and the list goes on.

Currently, Aang was staying in the Fire Nation Capital, in the royal palace specifically. His main part there was to persuade Zuko to step up as Fire Lord a long time ago, and they somehow ended up bonding and becoming friends. So Zuko helped Aang with his goal of world peace.

"There can't always be peace everywhere, y'know?" Former Prince Zuko retorts, observing how Aang shook his head and smiled.

Aang was always the positivist. He would say, "What matters with the process of world peace is not how fast we get there, but that we keep on moving in the right direction, Zuko."

Aang sighs in frustration and got up as he stomped toward his bed and practically jumped on it. He brings his hand under his pillows as he searches for one thing, his mind focused.

He grins when he finds what he was looking for and pulls it out, balling his fist to hide it. He gets into a more comfortable position while looking up at the ceiling. He sighs heavily and opens his fist, revealing an undone hand-crafted jewel in his hand. Aang was yet to complete it as he returns to his desk and proceeds to finalize it.

Aang would be lying if he said he didn't miss her. Katara. His first love. Throughout the two years, missing Katara was how he grew up, and he can recall Gyatso saying that growth can be painful for the most part. And it did.

Crafting this jewel was probably the only way he could escape the thought of missing her.

Aang closes his eyes and lets his mind fill with Katara's voice. He can hear her teasing him like she's just feet away; his mind fills with Katara's sarcastic retorts along with her alluring voice and that was enough to drive him crazy. Aang wants to call her softly to see if she'd appear in front of him, just to feel disheartened every time he opened his eyes and she wasn't there.
