"𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬"
Adrenaline coursed through Sokka, Suki and Toph's veins as a thin layer of sweat covered the nape of their necks.
Sokka maintained his breathing steady as he pushed harder and went faster with his hand locked with Toph's. At that great speed, he could barely see a few feet ahead of him.
Cold air bit into Toph's lungs. "S– Sokka! I can't run any faster in these heels and you're hurting me, you idiot!" Her foot nearly slipped from beneath her.
Sokka felt his whole body working right now, his leg muscles were running warm and blood flowed into all of his limbs. "Just– Just resist a little longer!" His breath came in short gasps.
Toph grunts. "Where are we running to?!"
To where that might be, Sokka didn't know. But he knew he needed to get them out of there.
Suki looks back and bit her lip. "Your Majesty, we need to find someplace safe as soon as possible!"
Toph's heels pounded heavily across the ground causing her to reckon her legs were going to explode, she blamed herself for letting Katara pick these heels for her.
Toph's mind was frantic with thoughts such as how could Sokka run so damn fast.
"Oh no, I've had enough." She lets go of his hand, causing Sokka to stop running along with Suki.
Sokka impatiently turns and grabs her arm but she shakes his hand off her arm and bends down to remove her heels. "Toph, this is not the time! We gotta go and we gotta go fast."
"Oh shut it, queen! I just need to remove these stupid shoes unless you want me to lose my feet." Toph rolls her eyes and removes her shoes. "Much better." She grins.
Sokka's mind was racing faster than his thoughts. Before he could comprehend his actions, he had cursed under his breath and bent down to effortlessly toss the earthbender over his shoulder.
"Hey!"
"Sorry, T, but I can't risk getting caught." Sokka peeks at Suki who assured him she was fine with a display of thumbs up. Once he faced forward, Suki clenched her fists at her sides.
Sokka signals her to start running as they began to sprint and Toph's eyes shut tight in fear of falling. It was not actual fear she was sensing, the earthbender feared placing her trust into Sokka that he won't let her fall. However, he was quick to respond when Sokka held her tighter to reassure her he was not going to let go of her.
Their steps pounded in time with their heartbeats. They dart past hallways and rooms until they managed to find the door Sokka was desperately looking for.
