I hadn't spoken to Adonis all day. After he left the house, I called Gaia. She came over with magazines, nail polish, and ice cream. Eva was very excited. We spent the day watching movies, painting our nails, and eating ice cream.

When Eva went to take a nap, I decided that was the time to speak to Gaia.

After hearing my side of the story, I found out that she'd already spoken to Adonis. She was on his side.

"Adonis is a good guy, Estella. You can trust him," she said as she picked out a brown dress from my closet.

"I want to, but-"

"There are no 'buts'. You're going to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime blessing because you're choosing to be scared. He has proven himself ten times over. If he hadn't, you wouldn't have allowed him to move you and your daughter into his penthouse."

Once again, someone else was right and I was wrong.

"What are you even doing?" I asked her when I noticed her attention was on my clothes and shoes.

"Ti sto trovando qualcosa di carino da indossare per stasera," she said as she held up two different brown dresses. "How did you know this was his favorite color?"

I frowned. "I didn't."

It was then that I noticed we knew nothing basic about each other. I didn't know his birthday, his favorite color, his childhood dreams, or anything. He didn't know those things about me either, but I felt like I'd taken up a lot of the attention. The thing that made me feel guilty was that he never complained.

"Brown is his favorite color because he believes it's the most unappreciated color on the spectrum."

I smiled. That sounded a lot like Adonis.

"That's cute," I said with a grin. She offered me a small smile.

"You really should not take him for granted," she said. "Take it from someone who hurt him. Looking at you and him makes me regret everything I did."

I frowned. "Cosa gli hai fatto?"

She sighed as she laid a silky brown dress on our bed. "I was sleeping with a friend of mine for the last two years of our relationship."

Oh shit. "W-why?" I didn't know what else to say to that.

She shrugged as her shoulder sagged. "I guess I thought he would let me get away with it."

"Era cosi gentile?" I exclaimed. I knew Adonis was a kind person, but I didn't see him letting someone get away with hurting him.

Gaia nodded. "It is sad how you will not get to see that version of him. He was a lot nicer before. My friends would tease me and say I was dating a pushover. Although everyone thought he was soft, all of the girls wanted him. He and I were the cliché cheerleader-athlete couple. By the time I found out he wanted us to get serious, it was too late. Adonis was no fool which is why he disappeared on me. I hadn't heard from him in three years, and then you came into the picture."

I thought over her words. He had sacrificed his pride twice for me already. It was making me feel like I really was the problem.

"Get in that seat, and let's make you prettier," she changed the subject as she pointed to the seat she'd put in front of our mirror.

Author's Note:

Okay, maybe Adonis is perfect. I do agree that he is a true sweetheart. He wasn't coldhearted-turned soft like most Wattpad males. Maybe Stells is the problem? Yes? No?

Shortest, shittiest chapter in this book. We're going to call it a filler and keep it kicking. I think I am reaching writer's block, so I cannot promise the next chapter will be any good either.
