"You are throwing the spectrum off, Axel, sit here." Esperanza huffed in annoyance at her son-in-law.
"Mamma," he whined like a child.
We all laughed as Luna snatched him down by the tail of his blazer. "The spectrum was thrown off because you didn't send the dress code in the group chat," she scolded him.
"I thought you were going to do it!" he exclaimed.
"Mamma told you to do it," Teo said before attempting to do his best imitation of his mother.
I couldn't believe they were only six!
"Adonis, Stella, Eva, thank you for being the only ones to dress appropriately," Esperanza said in a tired tone.
"Yes, Axel sent me the document," Adonis said with a grin on his face.
Everyone turned and looked at him. He only shrugged. "This year, you tasked Axel with it."
I fought to hold in a peal of laughter at everyone's gaping expressions.
"Mio Dio," a few of the older people grumbled.
And he wonders why he gets treated like the black sheep.
"Are we ready?" I heard Isabel's voice before the room fell silent.
She walked onto the patio and looked at all of us.
"Cosa diavolo?" Her lips formed into a frown.
Even I had to laugh at her comical expression.
"Axel didn't send the-"
"Oh, fuck off, stronzo," he cut Adonis off before flipping him off for the fifth time today.
Ladies and gentlemen, the men we trust to fight for our world.
I shook my head and pulled Eva against me.
We'd been sitting outside on the patio for half an hour discussing seating arrangements, dinner, and Axel messing up this photo shoot. We were also waiting on the photographer.
The theme was supposed to be different shades of brown.
I was wondering why Adonis picked tan for me to wear. He kept his word on matching me. He wore a black three-piece suit with a paisley-printed black and tan tie. His shoes and handkerchief matched his tie.
Eva matched us with her black flare dress and tan dress slippers.
"Mamma, I feel like a princess," she told me with a toothy grin.
I chuckled. "You look like a princess," I replied. "Did you thank Luna for dressing you?"
She shook her head. "Thank you, zia Luna," she said to Adonis's sister.
"Sei il benvenuto caro," she said with a smile.
Luna looked at me. "She's a sweet girl," she said softly.
"Thank you for getting her ready for me."
She nodded, and we returned our attention to Isabel and Esperanza.
"Luna put Teo and Paco on your lap," Esperanza said in an authoritative tone. "Axel put Tito on your shoulders and stand behind Luna." Once they obeyed, she moved on.
"Estella put Mini on your right leg," she said. Eva giggled at the nickname as she sat on my leg. "Slide closer to Luna, and Adonis needs to stand right next to Axel."
