So this imagine is set out in a documentary/recreation format.Isabella Tudor is one of the most renowned Queens of English History the second daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, Isabella Tudor was never expected to ascend to the throne. One, she was a female, Henry needed a son because up until this point Queen of England never ended well. Second, she was the second born of twin daughters.
18th of February 1516
Catherine of Aragon had been in labour for hours, she had prayed for months to have a heathy child and more important to her and Henry and Healthy son that would survive infancy. The first cries came made her sigh with happiness, that the child was first alive.
"A daughter your majesty." The midwife told her. Her smile faltered slightly for a moment but she recovered, a heathy child made her more than happy after the stillbirths and miscarriages. But before she could be handed her daughter, she felt more labour pains. She was checked over and her ladies and midwives consulted with each other.
"What is happening?" Catherine questioned
"It seems there is another child to be, push your Majesty?" she was told as she went through more pain to give birth to what she now defiantly hopes would be a son. To be blessed with two children during one birth was a rare occurrence, she needed to have a son for herself and for Henry. This birth was shorter than her first, and it was quiet at first that Catherine feared the worst. But the cries of her second child graced her ears.
"Another daughter majesty"
Imagine yourself as Catherine of Aragon. She has come to England from Spain a foreign country to do the duty of a Princess, or even a woman of the time, which is to marry and have an heir. Her first husband dies, she weaves herself into English life desperate to find a way to fulfil her duty. A second chance is given in the form of Henry. Things are going well, they're in love. She becomes pregnant time after time, resulting in death in one form or another. This time not only has she carried to full term but she has twins, yet both are girls. To a parent of these days it's not a big deal, chances are some have known about the gender for months. In Tudor times, the birth of her daughters had put Catherine in a precarious position. Because not only does she have twin girls but compared to her other pregnancies and births. Her twins thrive. Not only do they thrive they are exceeding expectations. Everything Henry is wishing of a son, his daughters are fulfilling. Since their birth however, Catherine becomes pregnant again a small handful of times and neither as successful as that of Mary and Isabella Tudor.
Mary and Isabella had been proclaimed bastards upon the dissolution of their parents separation and so called divorce. To add to further insult they were made Lady's and sent to be in service to their half sister Elizabeth. Mary cried silently as the two were left alone in their room which was a far cry from what they had been brought up in.
"Ease your cries my sister, ease them and gather the strength Mama has passed to us when last we lay eyes on her." Isabella soothed her sister
"Papa has abandoned Mother." Mary stated wiping away her tears "We are forbidden from seeing her." she added
"Nothing is forever. Not if I have something to do with it. I promise you sister, as long as I have breath in my body and as God as my witness, this shall not be left unchecked."
There are accounts, correspondence actually in the twins that the young women were in service of their younger sister, Eustace Chapuys stated that Isabella had every drop of tenacity of her grandmother Isabella of Castile and her father combined . He writes to King Charles that Isabella is enraged about how her mother has been treated how they have been treated due to the circumstances surrounding where they are. That she has vowed, she will work to find a way to correct this wrong.
