Isabelle, Reinette, Grayson, William and John had arrived at Isobel's estate in Virginia, over the next year they fell back into their normal routine, but sadly Belle's mother had passed away, Belle was grief stricken at the loss of her mother and what didn't help is that she and Marie had been called back to France to settle their mothers estate. She made the decision not to take the children to France and left them in the care of John, while she was away.
She arrived in France before Marie who was now a widow, her mother had taken care of the situation after receiving Isabelle's letter. She was greeted by her now ailing step father, who just might die of a broken heart. she stayed there until her sister arrived and then they were taken through the will.
"Madame, Mademoiselle." Monsieur Leffe bowed and gestured them to sit.
"I am your mothers avocat, she instructed me to handle her affairs upon her passing, I am very sorry for your loss." the two women nodded
"I will not want to keep you so I will be as swift as possible. I Anoinette Dubois, being of sound body and mind..." he began. Isabelle listened to what she needed to hear.
"To my eldest and dearest Isabelle I leave my estate and Fortune to her to do with as she see's fit, though I do hope she does not sell it and passes it on to her children and carry on the legacy. To Marie I leave you my jewels and dresses. Grayson and Reinette Dubois Fraser though you will inherit from your mother i give you these letters of wisdom, in hope that you have a happier transition into adulthood than your mother did."
"Dresses and Jewels, that's it. You get everything?" Marie stood up enraged "Not even a fair share."
"I must admit Madame Marchant that your mother recently changed her will months before she took ill." Monsieur Leffe stated. Marie's eyes became a blaze.
"You! This is your fault." Marie pointed at Isabelle "You turned mother against me." Isabelle rolled her eyes
"You did it to yourself, Mama told us so many things but most of all she taught us to always be there for each other. You chose him over your own pregnant sister." tears started to roll down Marie's cheeks.
"But go ahead blame me for your mistakes, after all I am the unmarried mother." she thanks Monsieur Laffe and left the room. She left to her old room which hadn't been touched, she daren't come in here so she took one of the guest rooms.
"Your mother kept it exactly as you left it." Fredrick her stepfather smiled. She turned to face him.
"This room is full of ghosts of the past." she smiled softly.
"You know Francis and I sat in here one time and said..."she trailed off thinking the memory, then she came up with an idea. She ran out of the room.
"monsieur Laffe! monsieur Laffe! monsieur Laffe!" Isabelle yelled the man who was just leaving stopped and turned around.
"Yes?"
"don't go. Papa! Marie! Come here!" Marie and Fredrick joined her. Isabelle turned to her sister
"You wanted to move back to France yes?"
"Why?"
"I have just had the most wonderful idea, please follow me into the study." the did so and sat down.
she grabbed some drawing utensils and made a rough sketch ten showed them.
"What am I looking at." Marie asked
"The Dubois Home for Orphans and unwed mothers. Many years ago Francis and i commented how many Orphans we saw on the street starving with no decent place to go and I as an unwed mother became lucky in meeting Lord John but there are so many that aren't. This place would give them a home, to either raise their children or not, the mothers who would come here would help with the up keep, who their children are born they can stay here raise their children."
