You got a lot of apologies in the past week. Everyone who was ever mean to you because of what Nora did, apologized to you, including your old friends.

You get why they did it, you understand why they believed her, there wasn't proof that she did it herself at first. And you have to admit that the second they started doubting her, they were back on your side again.

But the shit they put you through? Especially your brother and Steve, you can't seem to forgive them just as easy as the others. They should've been the first people to notice something was off. But the only person who did was Thor, in the beginning.

So when Steve went to apologize with a hug, you had pushed him back while turning your eyes away from him. 'I cant do this yet...' You could tell he was disappointed, but he respected your boundaries.

You haven't had real closure of that yet. You loved Steve to the point where you thought he was the one, and then he turned out not to be and it broke you, you need closure.

'I wanted to talk to you.. because I need closure... you really hurt me...'

'I know... first off, I want to apologize.. I should've believed you... and I shouldn't have done all the shit that I did to you... you didn't deserve it...'

You clear your throat and nod while you keep fiddling with your fingers. 'I could understand it from everyone else.. we're not as close as you and I were, as Tony and I... so I could understand and forgive them easier.. but both you and Tony.. you guys were the ones that hurt me most...'

Steve's eyes fill with tears and yours do the same upon looking up at him. 'You know how much I already had to go through..'

'I've been an asshole.. and you don't have to forgive me for it... I'm not expecting you to...' His tears slip down his cheeks now.

'I've forgiven the others... I'm sure with some time I can forgive you... I don't think I will trust you easily again... but I also don't want to completely lose you...'

He sighs while wiping away some tears. 'I don't want to lose you either...' it gets silent after that.

Steve feels the gravity of what he did, he feels the guilt and the hurt. He sees it in your eyes as well, he really hurt you in a way that's horrible. You trusted him and he broke that trust in at least a hundred ways.

But he can't lose you, before you dated you were good friends, he wants to at least try to be civil, to try and earn back that trust. He doesn't deserve it in the slightest though. He doesn't know what makes him pick this next topic, but he just blurts it out.

'so you and Loki...'

'We're together again...' you reply with a small smile, your mind going back to the date you had the other night, at his parents restaurant.

'Is he good to you?' He asks. Even though he was a dick to you, he still cares.

'Yeah...' you smile a little more. 'Yeah he's great... he's thoughtful and funny.. he makes me feel good..'

'I'm happy for you..' he shows you a small smile. 'You deserve someone like that..'

The energy shifts in the room like it's magic. It's not this heavy silence filled room anymore, it's a lighter situation now. It's weird, maybe it's the relief of everything being over, maybe you're too tired to confront people again, but it's a welcomed vibe.

'I'm really proud of you...' he blurts out.

'Thank you... I have to say that you're being brave by actually coming here to talk to me...'

He shakes his head. 'You're still the sweetest... after everything.. how do you do that?'

'Because it's solved now, Nora got what was coming for her... it's no use staying in the past.. I'm trying to move forward and I've got help for it now...'

'Good... good..' Steve smiles.

Epilogue, 5 years later

'Miss Y/n Y/l/n, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?'

'I do...' Your smile could be seen from around the world at this point, you've done so much work to get where you are right now.

You have a penthouse, a successful company with your best friend and now to become your life partner. You work hard but you have enough time to relax with him and your friends, who also happen to work at the companies you operate with on a daily basis. You're like the tv-show "F.R.I.E.N.D.S" but then you all have your own companies, you live in the same building, it's close enough right?

You stare at your counterpart. He has an equally big smile to match yours. He can't wait for this wedding to be over and spend the rest of his life calling you his wife instead of fiancé.

'Loki Odinson, will you take this woman, to be your lawfully wedded wife?' The priest asks.

'I do..' he says without any hesitation, which makes the priest chuckle a little at the eagerness.

'Then by the power invested in me by god.. I now pronounce you.. husband and wife.. Mister Odinson, you may now kiss the bride..'

Loki doesn't let the man tell him twice before his arms wrap around you and he sweeps you off of your feet by the kids that follows his actions. 

The whole church erupts into whistles and cheer while he continues to kiss you, murmuring "I love you's" against your lips.

He pulls you back up and you chuckle while shyly hiding your face in his neck. You finally turn to the front row, your parents are there, followed by your friends. Then there's Loki's parents and his siblings. Even John, Sharon and their 1 year old are here.

Steve and you lock gazes and you can see what he's thinking. He gives you a warm smile while raising his thumb at you, not too exaggerated but it shows you he means well.

You consider him one of your best friends again. You talk a lot more and you can actually enjoy being around the group again.

'You ready, darling?' Loki whispers in your ear and you nod. 'Yeah.. let's go have a party!' You take Loki's arm and walk with him back down the aisle.

In the end you really went from rock bottom to being the happiest person on the planet.

You have the job, the partner, the friends, the penthouse. And not a single thing is missing.

Life works in mysterious ways.
