Forgive and forget ❤️‍🔥 Shang-Chi

Imagine: Shang-Chi is the one that killed your father, yet you do not see it as a crime. Years later you're together, trying to stand against his father.

Warnings: angst, traumatic past, child assassins, mentions of murder, fluff.

A/n: I thought this was a good idea... I needed to write for my mans because I'm again in a Shang-Chi phase (I think)

You're worried about him. You always have been and especially now, with everything going on with his father, with his whole family, you can't help but wonder if he's as fine as he tells you.

You watch him learn his mothers way of fighting, it's beautifully light, more about defending rather than attacking. Yet you can feel the struggle all the way from here.

When you met him for the first time she was different, hesitant. He didn't want to kill your father, and when he finally did, he felt guilty. For years.

You have told him enough times that by killing your father, he set you free. You've reminded him of the fact that if he hadn't, you never would've met. That seemed to keep the evil thoughts at bay, for a while.

'You've never told me how you two met...' Xu Xialing comes to stand next to you.

'He killed my father... orders of yours..'

'You're not vengeful then-'

'Oh I am... not to him though, by killing my father he set me free, we've been friends.. and a little more than friends for years...I'm sorry.. by the way...'

'What for?'

'If I had known you were waiting for him then I would've urged him to come and get you... even though you seem to adjust very well...'

'What made your fathers dead feel like being freed?'

'As you've probably already seen, I was trained in various fighting styles... in a way our fathers were alike... that's why I worry about him... I can feel the battle within him...'

'He always had that battle already...try not to worry to much...' she assures you by laying a hand on your shoulder.

'Are you alright?' You turn to face her.

She seems to be taken aback by that. It's like nobody ever asked her that before and perhaps that's exactly why she reacts so strongly.

She thinks a split second before she nods. 'We women always are...'

You hum in response. 'True...'

'We all will be alright...after this is done...'

You look at Shaun training with his aunt. He's smiling and laughing which is a good thing right? After the past few days he deserves to feel some peace, because you have a feeling once his father arrives here, which he will, peace will be the last thing on anybody's mind.

Shaun is sitting at the edge of the lake, looking over it towards the big prison made for the monster that almost destroyed earth. The monster that is calling out to his father, pretending to be his mother.

He's glad you've come with him, he's not sure he would've been so peaceful if it weren't for you trying to ground him wherever you can. Even in this moment, as your arms wrap around him from behind he can feel the calm you carry catch into him. He visibly relaxes as your hands rub over his arms.

You sit down next to him. 'What is bothering you, love?'

'I'm not who you think I am...' he sighs.

'What are you talking about? I've known you for years-'

'I thought that changing my name, pretending to be someone else, would change who I am but it doesn't...'

'What are you saying?'

'A blood dept has to be paid by blood...'

'You want to kill him...' you answer and he nods. 'My mom would hate me if she saw me like this-'

'Nonsense...look at me...' you plead and he does. 'You are no disappointment, your father trained you to be an assassin at seven and ordered you to do a hit at fourteen...you didn't know any better... look what you've build...'

'It doesn't matter-'

'It does! Shang-Chi we've build a life together with Katy, you found a job.. you went to school, we went to school.. and yes sure it's not perfect... but look around.. you did not blindly follow your father, you went to your mothers side of the family to help... you did what is right and you still do...when are you going to see that?'

You take his head in between your hands. 'Your mother, would be the proudest of you.. she even had them make you this suit..'

He lays his forehead against yours and you chuckle slightly. 'What happens, happens but I have faith that you will make the right choice... and I will be there with you...'

'Thank you...'

'Always...' you kiss his cheek and he shows you a little smile when you do. 'For now lets just enjoy the beauty of Ta-Lo...'

He hums as he pulls you closer to him. You're both good at sitting in silence as well as talking each other's ears off. It often confuses Katy.

You take his hands in yours and lace your fingers with his before laying your head on his shoulder.

It's weird seeing your boyfriend on a literal water dragon, but it's beautiful to say the least. Even if you're hurt everywhere in your body, you can't help but admire him as he steps off of the creature.

You knew he would make the right decision, you also knew that he would find a way to end the beast and make sure that peace would come back to Ta-Lo once again.

He gives you a bright smile and when you give him a watery smile in return, worry crosses his face. He rushes over to you.

'Bǎobǎo...are you alright?' He asks, turning his attention to you immediately.

'Are you? You rode a dragon and stopped a monster!' You breathe as he kneels beside your sitting body.

'You're hurt...'

'One of those demons tried to take my soul but then Katy shot him with an arrow and I fell... after fighting your dads army... I'm going to be sore tomorrow...' you joke and he shakes his head at your words. 'I knew you'd do the right thing, didn't I tell you that?'

He leans forward and kisses your head with a chuckle. 'You did...'

'You two should get married, you survived this so I don't think there will be a harder challenge...' Katy comments and you chuckle.

'We shall see...' Shaun replies. 'Let's get you up and walking again...' He mutters as he helps you stand.

Later that night you're sitting at the same spot at the lake, Shaun again has you pressed against him. 'We should stay a while...' he says and you hum.

'If you want, I'll go anywhere with you-'

'Aww you guys are so cute it's almost disgusting..' Katy interrupts and you laugh. 'Almost like you and Xu Xialing..' you reply.

'But I'm serious... if you want to stay we stay, if you want to go back we can go back.. it's up to you...'

'We deserve a vacation after this... so I'm staying..' Katy says.

'Then we stay too- and she's asleep...' he chuckles watching you fall asleep right then and there.

Xu Xialing did mention your be alright in the end, and she was right. You're alright and probably stronger than ever.
