After that evening, you let him come over a number of times. Of course Rosé was ecstatic to find out that Bucky is her father. It's been over a year now.

Even without that knowledge she felt comfortable around him in ways she never felt it with your past dates. There is this unspoken thing between them, you think it's beautiful and yet it stings a little.

You never told him about her, you took the chance to bond with his daughter from him because you were scared how he'd react. Now she will grow up asking why he wasn't in any baby pictures and she will ask about the birth and how she came to be and.. and..

'Y/n?' Bucky asks, brow furrowed and face full of worry.

You didn't even notice your breathing speeding up, you didn't even feel yourself zoning out this time.

'Y/n? What's going on? Hey.. hey look at me..' he kneels in front of you, giving you something to focus on.

'Sorry.. I'm sorry...' you breathe.

'Don't apologize..it's okay... you're okay?' He asks and you nod. 'Yeah.. I just.. I freaked myself out I guess..where is Rose?'

'She's sleeping in her room... she was very tired...then I came in here to see you breathing heavy... what's happened?'

'I.. I am freaking out about us... about the questions she will ask once she's older.. I feel guilty...'

'Why?'

'You should hate me for keeping her from you.. I.. you could've been there for her from the start...I kept her from you for years-'

'Y/n... you did what you had to do... you shouldn't feel guilty about that... I would've loved to be there to help you, and I would've been there if you had told me but the truth is, she has been safe all of these years because you didn't tell me.. and I don't mean she isn't safe now... but I am not mad at you, so you shouldn't feel guilty...and if she starts asking questions.. so what? I'm not ashamed of what we did, are you?'

'No.. god no..' you chuckle slightly as you look down, heat rising to your cheeks.

'Then we will deal with it when the time comes...okay?'

'Yeah, okay..' you nod at him. 'Thank you...'

'Any time...' he smiles at you.

God how you still melt from that damned smile. Even after five years, you still feel giddy around him. He can see it too.

'I wanted to... you know?' He suddenly says.

'Wanted to what?' You frown, a bit surprised.

'I wanted to stop you from leaving... I didn't want it to be a one time thing I just.. I didn't want to stand in your way..' he reveals, making you suck in a breath.

You stay silent, trying to find the right words. You've wanted in to do just that.. you thought for years that he thought of it as a one time thing.

'You.. could never stand in my way.. we would've forgives shit out... but.. there's no way to change any of it...'

'There isn't... but I can decide what happens next...'

Your head tilts slightly at his sentence. 'Go on a date with me... a real one this time...'

'I'd love to...' you smile at him.

'Daddy! I'm awake!' Rose yells loudly, making you chuckle slightly.

'I guess you've got an advantage already...rose approves...'

'Good to know that I have a chance then...' he winks before standing up and walking to your daughters room.

Hearing loud laughter come from the room seconds later.

You might not have been the usual mom and dad, but you'd do anything to keep this or perhaps, make it even better.
