I don't want to give too much away but this chapter is like laced together, you'll get it but I am gonna make Bucky's side bold.
•••It got bad in the end. You weren't even able to talk, that demon took over your entire life and Bucky's as well. Even though it couldn't crawl back to Bucky, it made sure to pull him right into your possession.
But you have rest now, Bruce woke up and helped you get rid of it. That was six months ago.
Now you're living down by the lake, a small cabin just enough for you and Bucky. You enjoy the peace and quiet it brings.
No more missions, no more city sounds, just the peace of that lake. The most noise you get is the waves of the lake bumping against the deck. And you couldn't possibly love it more.
Something feels off however, it's this ick that doesn't go away. Imagine a picture you took, and then upon looking back at it, there's something you completely missed, just sitting there in plain sight.
'Hey doll... whatcha thinking in that pretty head of yours?' Bucky wraps his arms around you from behind.
You chuckle as you continue to stare at the lake. 'I don't know... do you feel like something is off about this?'
'Nothing is off Y/n.' He sternly tells you, it makes you uneasy, the way he talks to you. 'It's all in your head, Bruce said it could feel that way...'
'Have you felt like that? After losing the demon?'
'Yes, but it goes away...' he shrugs before letting go off you. 'But-'
'I don't want to hear it, Y/n, nothing is wrong...' he walks back inside.
You watch him until the door is closed up again. You frown, he usually wouldn't lash out at you like that. Now that you come to think of it, he never has been this stern with you, ever.
You turn back to the lake again, maybe he's right. Maybe you're just imagining things, the possession has been hard on you. Bucky bounced right back but you, not so much.
You shrug before walking up the hill again, there's this really nice laundry basket waiting for you to hang it's contents.
You're stopped however when the sun hits you right in the eyes, which is weird considering it was just facing the other way around. You put your hand up to shield your eyes from it, not that it really helps. That's odd..
'How long has she been like this?' Cho asks as she flashes the light in your eyes, there's barely even a response from your pupils, it worries her.
'She's been like this for the past few weeks...' Bucky sighs, he's on the verge of breaking down.
He has been worrying sick about you, you don't eat unless he feeds you, you stare ahead of you all day. It's like you're this shell of a person.
'And Bruce said he exorcised the demon?' She asks.
Bucky nods. 'The first few days I thought this was just the shock, you know? I mean I've battled it for months but she... the demon made it worse for her...but this is something else...'
Cho hums before she she does another reaction test, nothing comes out and that's when she tells him. 'I don't think it's gone... I'm gonna call Bruce...'
'Go ahead and call him sweetheart...' the voice is groggy, like it hasn't been used in ages. It's definitely not you speaking to them.
Cho immediately grabs the restraints and while the demon in you laughs, Bucky calls Bruce with panic written all over him.
'Y/n!' He yells in hopes of getting your attention.
'She isn't home right now, she's having her happy cabinlife... don't worry, she doesn't know any of this... she thinks all is well...' the demon chuckles. 'So naive...'
'Why are you doing this? Huh? Why is she so important to you?' Bucky demands.
'Because I can... I don't have a reason...' The demon answers with a hint of annoyance. 'So call Brucie and Stevie... I'm sure they can fix everything... or not..' the demon erupts in laughter again.
'Oh shoot!' You hiss as you accidentally let go of a huge tablecloth. It flows through the air, only to get blocked by something.
You frown before moving closer. It's a shape, one of a woman for sure. But.. that is supposed to be over now.
'Y/n, wake up!' She harshly whispers before the cloth continues to make its way around the backyard. You hastily chase it before shoving it in the laundry basket again.
You stare at the place you just saw her but it's like nothing happened.
'Y/n?' Bucky asks from inside the cabin. 'Yeah!'
'You do know you're supposed to pin the laundry down the line. Right?'
'Ha ha, you're hilarious...' you reply with a small smirk.
He comes walking outside again, he takes your hand and swings you around all of the sudden. You let out a loud laugh at his antics. 'What has gotten into you?' You chuckle as he pulls you close.
'Nothing, can't I just be happy that we're both okay? That my wife is okay?' He kisses your lips sweetly.
'Yes of course you can...' you smile into the next kiss he gives you.
'I have to go, I'll be back in a couple of hours, you gonna be okay on your own?'
'Yeah, I'll be fine...' you wave him off. 'Good..' he replies before pecking your lips again and walking off.
He's acting strange, like he's won the lottery. He's insanely happy one minute and stern the next? You're getting confused. He's definitely hiding something, and you're gonna find out what.
'We got here as fast as we could, now let's take a look' Bruce rushes in with Steve trailing behind him.
'Oh someone's back from their eternal nap, how's the heart Bruce?' The demon chuckles.
'So the exorcism didn't work entirely...' he sighs. 'And she's too weak now to do it again... or at least she needs to help and we can't reach her...'
'Aww, so cute, the whole gang together to save this little chick from dying...'
'That little chick.. is my fucking wife... I'm gonna fight you even if it's gonna kill me...'
'Oh it will, the question is though, who is going to widow the other first?' The demon laughs.
