It was 7 in the morning, and since we joined team Fire Ferrets, that means we have to train.  A large ball flies through the air, as Korra catches it.

"What's the big idea with making me train this early in the morning?" Korra asked dismayed as throws the ball in my direction.

"The morning is evil." I whispered, grappling the ball in my hands.

"We're the rookies," Bolin answered, as I throw him the ball,  "So we get the worst time slot in the gym." Bolin then throws the ball to Mako.

"And you're the rookiest of us all." Mako said referring to Korra, as he catches the ball from his brother, "We gotta get you up to speed if we wanna survive in the tournament. Deal with it."

Mako tosses the ball to Korra annoyed, Korra catches it and grits her teeth in annoyance as well, "You deal with it!" she retorted aggressively launches the ball after Mako, hitting him hard in the stomach causing him to fling backwards in a flip, and land hard on his back.

I sighed, pinching the bridge of my brow. Then the doors open, "There are my little hard-working street urchins, and my masseuse turned pro-bending athlete." He stops and places a hand on Korra's shoulder, "It's an honor to finally meet you, Avatar."

"And you are ...?"  Korra asked somewhat annoyed.

"Korra this is--"

"Butakha. I run this whole pro-bending shebang." Butakha interupted, taking his hat off to introduce himself.

"And my boss." I added sheepishly.

"Here's both your winnings from the last match. And for your normal job Yukari." Butakha said, handing both Mako and I our earnings, " Ah ah ah, not so fast." he takes some of the cash from us, "First, both you owe me for yours and the Avatar's new gear, gym and equipment rentals that includes massage oils  from last month, rent on your apartment, and a personal loan for groceries."

Mako and I stare sadly at our empty hands. Mako then turns and glares accusingly at Bolin.

"What?" Bolin asked, innocently, "I'm a growing boy." he said rubbing his tummy.

"Oh, and one more small item of business: The Fire Ferrets need to ante up thirty thousand yuans for the championship pot."

" Thirty thousand yuans?!" Bolin said shocked.

"That's a lot of money!" I joined just as shocked.

I just had 1,000 yuans in my hands one minute and three seconds ago, and now nothing, I thought.

"Could you ask your dad to sponsor us Yukari?" Mako asked.

"I can't. It's against the law to request a sponsorship from a council member if it doesn't help benefit the city, sorry." I answered sheepishly.

"We're part of the city, does that count?" Mako followed up.

"Well technically yes, but it more on infrastructure, things like that."

Mako furrowed his brows hung his head.

"You wouldn't happen to have a secret Avatar bank account overflowing with gold, would you?" Bolin asks as Korra walks up to us.

Korra pulls out her empty pockets, "I got nothing. I've never really needed money. I've always had people taking care of me."

"Then I wouldn't say you have nothing." Mako muttered. I sighed, shaking my head.

" Sorry, I didn't mean —"

" No, it's all right." Bolin interupted,  "It's just ever since we lost our parents, we've been on our own."
