The town was raving about the trial of the known blood bender Yakone. Some were running into the council room where the trial was being placed. Standing infront of City Hall was Amaya, dressed in fire nation garb staring determinedly at the building. She had heard the reports, since she was a former blood bender herself. And she was the one who propose that it should be illegal to blood bend.

"Amaya?"

She turned and her face lit up. A tall man in stature wearing Air Nomad clothing with a beard, "Aang!" she said rushing over and giving him a hug, "It's been so long, how is Katara and the kids?"

"They're doing fine. But I'm a little concerned about you though. Zuko told me that you're due any day."

Amaya rolled her eyes, "Zuko will be fine. Besides Toph gave me her word that there will be physicians on standby if I feel any contraction."

"I thought I heard you two." Toph said as she and other police officers approached them, "Come on Twinkle toes the trial is about to start."

"Toph, again, I'm forty years old. Enough with the nicknames." Aang said annoyed while Amaya giggled to herself.

These two never change, she thought to herself as she was escorted inside. Inside was the council, each representing the four nations. Her older brother Tariqq and best friend Sokka serve as council members.

"Yakone has ruled Republic City's criminal empire for years. Yet he has always managed to stay out of the law's reach until now." said the prosecutor, "You will hear testimony from dozens of his victims, and they will tell you, Yakone has maintained his grip on the underworld by using an ability that has been illegal for decades. Bloodbending."

"The prosecution's entire case is built upon the make-believe notion that my client is able to blood bend at will, at any time on any day." objected the defense, "I remind the council that bloodbending is an incredibly rare skill, and it can only be performed during a full moon. Yet, the witnesses will claim that my client used bloodbending at every other time except during a full moon. It would be a mockery of justice to convict a man of a crime that is impossible to commit."

Later on, after a whole range of testimonies, rebuttals, and debates, the United Republic Council returns from deliberations and takes their seats. "Councilman Sokka will now deliver the verdict." said the bailiff.

Sokka stood, "In my years, I have encountered people born with rare and unique bending abilities. Why I once bested a man with my trusty boomerang who was able to firebend with his mind. Even metal bending was considered impossible for all of history until our esteemed Chief of Police, Toph Beifong, singlehandedly developed the skill. In addition, I've witnessed firsthand the dangers of blood-bending, from both my sister and my best friend, Lady Amaya, when battling an old woman named Hama. And since then, they have renounced it as a lethal weapon that should've never been created and have been staunch advocates of ending this dark and minacious art. The overwhelming amount of testimony and evidence has convinced this council that Yakone is one of these unique benders, and he exploited his ability to commit these heinous crimes. We find Yakone guilty of all charges and sentence him to life in prison."

Amaya smiled as justice had been served as Sokka pounds his gavel to seal the decision. But she couldn't help but see this man's sinister grin as he sat there. Then she heard Sokka scream out, she turns, and her eyes widen in horror as his body is contorted, and after a moment, the other councilmen cry out as well. Toph Beifong is briefly shocked before trying to stop Yakone by metal bending her cables at him. Yakone rolls his eyes at her, incapacitating her immediately. He laughs as he turns and sees the entire room under his control. All except for one, her.

Yakone was confused by this, but it didn't matter to him. He forces Toph to unlock his cuffs, which bounce to the ground. He flexes his wrists and raises his hands to blood bend every one into unconsciousness. Amaya gasps as he turns to see that Aang is still awake and levitates him high into the air. She furrowed her brows and rushed over to face him. Cracking Kyoshi's war fans, she hid inside her robe.

"Republic City's mine, Avatar. I'll be back one day to claim it." Yakone said laughing.

"Let him go Yakone!" Amaya shouted.

"With pleasure!" Yakone bloodbends Aang into the steps of the dais,, thankfully Amaya catches him as Yakone flees outside.

"Aang!" Amaya shouted. Suddenly, Aang regains consciousness as his eyes and tattoos glow briefly.

"We have to follow him," he said. Amaya nodded as they burst through the doors of City Hall. Aang in a large Air scooter, and Amaya using fire propulsion. They quickly caught up to Yakone as he was heading away from the city. Amaya quickly cracks open one fan and throws it to sever the ostrich horse's harness from the cart, which flips onto its side and slides to a halt. Using metal bending she retrieves it while Aang coasts in front of the cart and waits for a moment. Yakone bursts out of the side door and bloodbends him to the ground. "This time I'm gonna put you to sleep for good!" Yakone said as Aang groaned in pain as Yakone levitated him into the air and begins contorting his body to painful and near-death positions. In anger, Amaya sends a ball of blue fire after Yakone causing him to lose his grip on Aang. Yakone tried to blood bend at her, but he was unable to.

"Your bending is useless on me Yakone." Amaya spoke as a cone of earth surrounded Yakone.

It was Aang, as he was in his Avatar state. He then places his thumbs on Yakone's forehead and chest as he struggles, "I'm taking away your bending, for good."

Yakone groans as Aang's tattoos and eyes light up as he energy bends Yakone to remove his waterbending. When Aang's tattoos stop glowing, he steps back, and Yakone slumps down. Aang sighs, "It's over." Amaya approaches him, placing a hand on his shoulders. She then cries out in pain, holding her stomach, "Amaya, what's the matter?"

"T-The baby!"
