Chapter 1

Zenji's POV

It's been two weeks since Harmonic Convergence and since that time spirit were free to roam the physical world. Bumi asked what am I going to name the orange dragon fly bunny since it been with me since we left the Eastern Air temple. I thought long a hard about a name suitable for this spirit, and then it dawned on me, the name Nian-Nian. Why you may ask? Because it's far better than, Bum-Ju.

I awoke to find Nian-Nian scratching her feet against my face. I tossed to the other side, "Nian-Nian, stop." I muttered groggily. Suddenly, I felt a powerful push that cause me to land on my face. Alright, now I'm awake. I slowly rise to my feet, yawning while stretching my body awake. Then, a gust of pushed me to a wall. Now, I'm really awake, I thought getting up once more. I looked on seeing the shutters of the window halfway off it's hinges.

I furrowed my brow confused. The boy's dormitory faced towards the east so it was impossible for wind of any kind to just destroy shutters. "What was that?" I asked myself slowly inspecting the damage.

"You airbended."

I looked over my shoulder, "Who said that?"

"Me of course."

I looked down to see Nian-Nian in front of me. Scratching it's face and twitch it's nose. I must be hearing things, because spirits can't talk. Can they? I stepped forward, lifting the spirit to my face. "Nian-Nian, were you talking to me?"

"Of course I was, you can hear me, right?" Nian-Nian replied.

My eyes widened and blinked twice. I then quickly bolted towards the door, heading to find Yukari's room.

Yukari's POV

"And that's basically it." I said, recounting my early experience to Korra, Jinora, and Tenzin.

"Was Zenji sure he used airbending?" Jinora asked.

"Yep, and he could also communicate with Nian-Nian, though I have my doubts." I responded.

We were on an assignment to get rid of the vines that wrapped around Republic City by orders of President Raiko. It was bad enough that he refused to send his forces to defend the city, but now that the city is wrapped in vines he wants us to fix it.

"How are we ever gonna clear away all these vines?" Korra asked, she swings her glider away and sends a ball of fire which startles the spirits, causing them to disappear in hiding. The vines soon grow back, and the spirits return to Jinora, who comforts one of them.

Korra's eye twitched, " Ugh, I don't get it. We can vanquish Vaatu but not a bunch of stupid vines?"

"I'm sure you'll find a way." Tenzin assured her.

"Well I hope it's soon." I said.

"Why do you want to get rid of them? You changed the world. We're connected with the spirits again. The wilds are their home."

"I don't think that the people who used to live here are as excited about it as you are." Korra told her, pushes aside a bunch of vines that leads to the exit way.

"I gotta go face the press and tell them I still don't have a way to get rid of the vines." Korra said, downcasted, "This should be fun." she takes off on her air glider.

"We'll be back by dinner." I said, Jinora waved goodbye, while Tenzin nods. While I took off, using  my Sansar powers.

Ever since our battle during Harmonic Convergence, the city drastically changed leaving people displaced from their homes. My mind wondered about what Zenji told me, how he could airbend and hearing Nian-Nian talking to him. Could this be a result during Harmonic Convergence? I shook my head a the thought. We soar over city hall and land next to the President, creating a gust of air that ruffled up Raiko's hair, leaving him annoyed.
