The legend of Korra: The Sansar Returns

Chapter 5

Zeina's POV

We were outside enjoying the morning sun. Yukari, Zenji, Tenzin and his wife were relaxing on the steps, while Yuuto, Haruka, Hayato and I stood watching the sunrise. It has been over seventeen years since I felt the warm rays of the sun on my skin. The freedom to move about rather than be trapped inside a cramped cell with my family together. Well, everyone except Sonra who has been nothing but cold to me since we left the South Pole. 

Tenzin sips his tea and sighs, "Ahh, I haven't felt this at peace since-" Suddenly Bumi jumps in, interrupting Tenzin, who looks in shock. He leaps onto a rock next to Kya, "Gooood morning, Universe."

"Bumi, cover yourself." Kya said covering her eyes in disgust.

"Please. We're not in our twenties anymore. No one wants to see that so early in the morning." Hayato added looking away. 

Bumi rolled his eyes, "Well, lookie here, "Vacation Tenzin" has finally decided to join us."

"Yes, he has." Tenzin replied taking his newborn from his wife, "It's so nice to get to spend more time with my family.  Isn't that right, my little Rohan?" Rohan smiles and coos. "And I've really enjoyed having you all around. Reminds me of all those great vacations we took as kids with Dad and Lady Amaya."

"Uhh, I think your memory's a little foggy." Kya said, "Bumi and I weren't on those great vacations. It was always just you and Dad."

"The same goes for us. Only Zeina and Asahi." Hayato joined.

Tenzin cupped his chin, " No, that can't be right. What about the time he took us to Kyoshi Island to ride the elephant koi?"

"Nope, we weren't there." Kya answered.

"What about Ember Island?" I spoke up, "Those amazing sand palaces we built on the beach." 

"You mean you built, I was in the military." Hayato replied.

"Well, actually I've been there once with them. That was the time I got sun burned." Haruko interjected. 

 Jinora and Meelo arrive at the scene on air scooters. Poki flies and lands on Meelo's head when both siblings land on solid ground.

"Morning, kids!"

"Morning, Uncle Bumi! Do you have a baby in there?" Meelo asked pointing to Bumi's gut.

"Wait, where's Ikki?" Yukari asked.

"You're right, where is your sister?" Pema joined.

"Who?" Jinora asked.

"Ikki. About this tall." Pema says putting hand at her waist level, "Talks real fast. I'm sure you know her."

Jinora looked away uneasy, "There was a lemur fight, but the bison told us not to worry because a giant was coming. Then we almost got eaten by a shark-squid!" Meelo smiles widely.

"The shark-squid? He's here? It appears my old nemesis has found me." Bumi frowns. Hayato rolls his eyes and facepalms.

Yukari folded her arms, "Jinora, were you and Meelo teasing your sister again?" 

"I don't know." Jinora said defensively. Yukari frowns, "Maybe." Yukari lifts an eyebrow, Jinora hangs her head down, "Yes." 

"She ran away." Meelo added.

Yukari pinched the bridge of her brow and sighs, while Pema's face turn red with anger, "Honestly, I don't know why you kids can't just get along!"

"It's all right, dear, Ikki couldn't have gone far," Tenzin said as he hands back Rohan, "I'll find her."

"Commander Bumi reporting for duty! Search-and-rescue missions are my specialty." Bumi salutes.
