As his eyes fluttered open, Shuichi sighed at the ceiling above him. His body felt numb and no matter what he did, he couldn't bring himself to move. Rolling his head to the side, the male noticed he was alone in the large bed, wrapped up in the crumpled bedsheets. It's seven, I have to get ready for work otherwise I'll be late. With another sigh, the male curled into a ball, holding the deep purple bedsheets to his chest. I'm too tired to get out of bed.

"Hey, Shuichi, you need to wake up," he heard Rantaro call as the other male entered the bedroom. "Oh, you're already awake," he chuckled. Shuichi didn't respond, instead, he sighed into his fists clenching the soft sheets. "Hmm? What's wrong babe, you seem upset." Hearing soft footsteps grow closer on the delicate carpet, Shuichi watched as Rantaro sat beside him on the bed.

"There's nothing wrong, I'm not upset or anything," Shuichi muttered. It was true, he felt happy, nothing was bothering him at all that morning. "My body doesn't want me to get up, that's all."

Chuckling, Rantaro leant down and planted a soft kiss on Shuichi's matted blue hair. "I can't count the number of times I've been there. Give me your phone."

"It's over there," Shuichi sighed, pointing at the bedside table. He knew he shouldn't let anyone into his phone (especially his boyfriend), but despite what he'd been told, he trusted Rantaro with his life. Shuichi had nothing to hide from his boyfriends, but no one else was technically allowed to use his phone due to his line of work. His agency had warned him that if others got into his mobile, they could have access to confidential case information. Right now though, that wasn't on his mind.

"Alright, I'm calling in for you to take a week of sick leave," Rantaro smiled. "You could use the time off to relax."

"I'll need a medical note. I can't just say I'm sick whenever I don't want to go to work," Shuichi mumbled into the pillow, lying on his side.

"I'm calling anyway." True to his word, Rantaro swiped through Shuichi's phone before holding it to his ear with a deviant grin. "Ah, hello Kirigiri, it's Amami." Attempting to hear the other line, Shuichi gave up as all he could understand were incoherent murmurs.

"Rantaro, it's no use," he sighed.

"Hush Shuichi. Kirigiri, Shuichi's overworking himself and could use a break. It's been five years without a decent break aside from holidays, and I think he's starting to feel the effects," Rantaro spoke into the mobile. "If it's not possible for him to take a week off, could he just take a few days of sick leave?" This isn't going to work Rantaro. "Oh, perfect, thank you so much Kirigiri!"

Grinning, Rantaro hung up the call and placed the phone on the bedside table. "You seem happy, did it work?" Shuichi asked, shocked that the call might've had any positive effect.

"No, you don't get a week off," Rantaro sighed. I knew it. "You have two."

"What?" Shuichi gasped with a frown.

"And, she's dropping by to check on you, she's concerned about your mental health and wants to talk to you in person later. She'll be here around midday, alright?" Oh no, no one ever gets a visit from their boss and keeps their job... Panic surged through Shuichi's lethargic system. "Hey, calm down, she said she just wants to make sure work isn't being too harsh on you."

Shuichi sniffed, tears causing light to shine off his joyful golden eyes. "That means... She's not mad?"

"No, she's not mad. You'll be able to talk to her later, and the worst-case scenario is you'll return to work tomorrow. Kirigiri made the two-week offer, she agrees you're overworking yourself. She's taking care of your workload so you won't fall behind." Lying on the bed, Rantaro wrapped his arms around Shuichi, cradling his head into his chest.

Shuichi allowed the tears behind his eyelids to fall, accompanied by relieved sobs he didn't know he'd been repressing. His arms wrapped around the greenette on their own as he cried tears of joy and relief, letting out the overwhelming emotion. I love Kirigiri so much, she's an amazing boss. She cares about me as a friend as well as a colleague, not just an inferior employee. Even though she can be cold and blunt, she'll do anything to protect someone close to her.

"Yoo-hoo! Morning time!" Kokichi shouted, running into the room and shouting. "Awe, you're already awake, how boring. I'll get you tomorrow!" He laughed. Shuichi sniffled, pulling away from Rantaro to wipe his eyes as he laughed at Kokichi's antics. "Huh? Shumai, are you crying?"

"I-I'm okay-" Before Shuichi could explain, Kokichi had crawled in between the men and cupped his cheeks in his pale, cold hands. Kokichi littered the bluenette's face in sweet kisses before wrapping him in a tight hug.

"Who do I have to kill? I promise you that I'll murder every single fucking person who hurt you." Kokichi's voice demanded an answer, contrasting his usual light-hearted demeanour.

"Koki, murder is illegal," Shuichi sighed.

"Not when your hot ass boyfriend is one of the best detective's in the world!"

"It's still illegal..." The detective chuckled. "We'd just both be charged in that case." Kokichi rolled his eyes at Shuichi's explanation, grinning from ear to ear.

"You gonna tell me what's wrong then?" Kokichi demanded.

"Shuichi's taking a few weeks off work. I think he's bordering on burnout," Rantaro explained.

"I'm not bordering on burnout, I'm just mentally and physically tired!" Shuichi argued. Rantaro and Kokichi stared at him in disbelief, winning the battle as Shuichi cracked and rolled his eyes. "Okay, maybe you're right."

"I have an idea!" Kokichi cheered, jumping from the bed and running out of the bedroom.

"He's so energetic," Shuichi muttered, having not moved a muscle.

"Opposite of you right now," Rantaro joked, pulling Shuichi back into a hug. Shuichi leant on his chest with a smile, enjoying the moment. "I'll take off work to take care of you, okay?"

"What? No!" Shuichi gasped, bending his head back as far as possible so he could look up at Rantaro. "You're not taking off work, you've only just got the permits for this job!" As a scavenger, Rantaro's job was unorthodox and only called for him when the government granted them permits. Without the permits, he couldn't legally search anywhere, although that hadn't stopped him occasionally. Being a detective, Shuichi pretended to know nothing of those situations.

"It'll be okay, it's a small mission so they won't mind. I'd also be gone for a week so I'd rather stay here and be by your side," Rantaro mumbled into Shuichi's hair. Another side effect of the man's work was that with each job, he could be away from home for anywhere between a few days to a few months. Even though he had been offered jobs that'd take a few years, Rantaro always turned them down, not wanting to spend that long on a mission.

Hearing small thuds approaching, Kokichi entered the room with a teal fluffy blanket as large as all of them combined, plus more. He also cradled a few chocolate snacks and bottles of water in his arms, the blanket draped over his shoulders like a cape. "I got the goods!"

Dumping the consumables onto the bedside, Kokichi jumped into the bed and wrapped the blanket around the three with a smirk. Shuichi felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist, the purplette burying his face into his back. "I'd take today off, but I can't. We have that super important gig today and the band would literally pulverise my skull with my guitar if I cancelled."

"That's fine Ko, you don't need to take off work. Can we just cuddle?" Shuichi asked, twisting his body so he could wrap an arm around each of the other men.

"Obviously!" Kokichi groaned, enveloping Shuichi into another tight hug. Shuichi chuckled, planting a kiss on each boyfriends' scalp. I love you all, so much, more than anything.
