Shuichi stared off into space as the people around him discussed the first murder of the killing game. Someone murdered Rantaro in the library, his skull caving in due to a shotput ball falling on him. "Saihara killed him, he knew about the camera intervals," Shinguji muttered.

"So did Iruma," Momota reminded the group.

"Are you all forgetting Akamatsu confessed?" Kokichi groaned, rolling his eyes.

"I think Akamatsu's trying to lure out the true killer," Yumeno hummed.

Akamatsu did it, I know she did... All the evidence points to her but can I vote for her execution? She's so sweet and kind, there's no way she's a murderer! No Shuichi, you can't let your opinions mask the evidence. I wish I could tell everyone who the killer is, I wish I could defend myself.

An envelope had appeared inside Shuichi's dorm room that morning, before the death of Rantaro. Inside was a note explaining that a murder would take place and he was not to uncover the blackened. If he did, someone would reveal his secret relationship with Rantaro and Kokichi to the entire class. Assuming Monokuma had attempted to create a motive, Shuichi decided to ignore it before he realised the threat could be genuine. Alongside the note were multiple polaroids, all depicting Shuichi and Rantaro kissing or in questionable situations such as cuddling in their sleep.

Shuichi had been in a relationship with Rantaro, however, the two were also dating Kokichi in a polyamorous relationship. Everyone had only been made aware of Kokichi and Rantaro being in a relationship, none knew of Shuichi's involvement. He wasn't ready to come out as gay to everyone, the thought terrified him and he cried when Rantaro and Kokichi found out thanks to Kokichi's deduction skills.

"It's voting time! I'm starting to fall asleep from this and it's going on for long enough!" Monokuma announced, interrupting the trial as screens popped up before them. Shuichi listened to the beeping of votes around him, hesitating his finger above the screen. Releasing a sigh, he voted for Akamatsu, hoping everyone else had made a similar decision. Staring up at a larger screen above Monokuma's throne, Shuichi's heart dropped.

Iruma Miu - 2 votes.
Akamatsu Kaede - 7 votes.
Saihara Shuichi - 6 votes.

Shuichi couldn't believe so many people had suspected him of murder, especially of his boyfriend (despite people not knowing the truth). He had been aware that a few people suspected him but didn't realise the sheer amount.

"As I said, I did it, I'm glad you guys voted for me," Akamatsu smiled through teary eyes. "Although Saihara, I wanted to hear you tell everyone. I thought you'd be less scared of the truth if you had solved this case..." Shuichi cursed whoever had decided to blackmail him at the sight of disappointment on Akamatsu's face.

A chain flicked out from the ceiling, a clamp shutting around Akamatsu's neck as she was tugged away. Shuichi reached out to her but dropped his hand before it could leave his side. He felt like the world had crashed around him. He'd lost a boyfriend, someone was blackmailing him, his best friend was about to be executed and he'd let her die in vain.

Pacing the bedroom, Shuichi chewed on his thumb as he attempted to keep his breathing steady. "Calm down Shumai, we'll figure out a way to escape this, just as we've planned," Kokichi grinned.

"It's not that, I'm worried about the mastermind," Shuichi sighed. He stared at the boxes piled in the corner of Kokichi's dorm, trying to focus on something that would help him prevent his oncoming anxiety attack.

"What are you talking about? Do you know who it is?!" Kokichi gasped, turning from his whiteboard to stare at the detective with wide, purple eyes.

"No, uh... Yesterday morning before Rantaro died, someone slipped an envelope under my door. It had polaroids of Rantaro and I kissing and said I couldn't uncover the killer during the trial otherwise everyone would know about us." Shuichi sniffed as he wiped away a tear, stress threatening to boil over an amount he could handle.

"Is that it?" Kokichi groaned, rolling his eyes as he turned back to the whiteboard. "That was me, I wanted to play a stupid prank and forgot about it with the murder."

"You... You did that?" Shuichi whispered, his stress replaced by shock.

"I forgot, okay?! It wasn't like I thought Rantaro would die!" Kokichi shouted as he threw his arms in the air.

"Why would you even pull that in the first place?!" Shuichi shouted in return.

"I'm sick of being 'just a friend' to everyone!" Kokichi shouted, throwing his whiteboard marker on his head. He turned and crossed his arms, staring at Shuichi. "I wanted you to open up about our relationship, there's no reason to be scared."

"You can't force me to come out when I'm not ready!" Shuichi cried. "I should be allowed to do it in my own time! Do you know how stressed I've been thinking someone knew about our relationship?!"

"Why are you so afraid about it?!" Kokichi groaned. "There's no reason to be afraid, everyone had accepted me and Rantaro without a second thought!" Whilst that was true, Shuichi still felt terrified of the thought.

"I just needed time! I've grown up in an extremely homophobic area, there's no way I can risk my parents finding out! What if I tell everyone, we escape, and one of them tells my parents?!" Shuichi cried, tears pouring down his cheeks as he hyperventilated. Despite the group being told they were the last alive due to a horrid natural disaster on Earth, Shuichi knew his family was alive, he could feel it.

"Fuck what your parents think! Just ignore them!" Kokichi groaned.

"Easy for you to say, it's not like you've ever had to worry about what your parents think!" Shuichi spat, instantly covering his mouth once he realised what he'd said. "I-I'm so sorry, that was out of line..." Kokichi's face fell as the remark as Shuichi had brought up his orphan status. "I didn't mean it Kokichi."

"You said it though. Whether you meant it or not is irrelevant," Kokichi snarled. "Why are you so worked up about this?!"

Frowning, Shuichi scoffed. "You haven't realised?! I'll tell you the fucking problem! I could've died and you couldn't have cared less! One more vote. If I had one more vote then everyone would've died!" Shuichi shouted as he watched Kokichi turn away from him.

"Look, I'm sorry for the prank, I forgot about it," Kokichi muttered.

Filled with anger, Shuichi ran on auto-pilot as he stormed towards the door. "Well, now you can forget about me. We're done. Goodbye Ouma."
