Peeling his face from his tear-soaked pillow, Rantaro sniffed as he attempted to unblock his nose after ugly crying for what felt like eons. Images of Kokichi's remains crushed underneath an industrial hydraulic press flashed through his mind, bringing a neverending cycle of despair. He knew Momota would murder Kokichi, he'd known since day one, but he'd majorly messed up after joining the game. Part of him wished he could've changed his boyfriend's fate, however, it'd been set in stone as soon as they awoke in the killing game.
The doorbell broke the male's silence, causing him to yelp in surprise as he stared at the door. Sighing, he took a deep breath and stumbled off the bed, shuffling towards the door and cracking it open. Shuichi waited for him on the other side, his smile full of pitying sympathy as he invited himself inside the dorm. Rantaro closed and locked the door before gripping Shuichi's shirt and pulling him into a bear hug.
Shuichi returned the hug, rubbing circles on Rantaro's back without speaking. Rantaro began crying again, his grip tightening as he sobbed into Shuichi's grey-blue striped jacket. "Let's go to the bed, okay babe?" Nodding, Rantaro released Shuichi from his death grip and interlocked their hands, shuffling behind his blue-haired boyfriend toward the bed.
The two crawled into the bed and sat up against the wall as Rantaro chucked his dirty pillow to the floor. He had one more that Shuichi could use, and he'd use the other as a pillow anyway. Shuichi wrapped an arm around Rantaro's shoulder and pulled his head into the crook of his neck. "Let it out, I'm here," Shuichi whispered as he rested their heads together. "He told us this would happen, Kokichi said he'd sacrifice himself to end the killing game. We can't let it be in vain."
"It didn't work though! He died for nothing! I never wanted him to do it in the first place!" Rantaro cried, his knees curling to his chest.
"I know sweetheart, I know." Shuichi continued to whisper. He gently pushed Rantaro's bright green hair away from his face to plant a kiss on his forehead. Rantaro sniffed as Shuichi wiped his tears. "Goodnight, sleep well. I'll be here when you wake up," Shuichi reassured his boyfriend as Rantaro's eyes began to flutter closed.

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Rantaro groaned as he woke up cold, glancing around to see he was also lonely. He said he'd be here when I woke up... His gaze flicked around the room before they landed on a tray of food and a note. Picking up the paper, a smile eased onto Rantaro's face as he read.
Hey Rantaro, you overslept so I decided to bring you breakfast. Please eat, it'll help you feel better. Yumeno asked me for help with her magic so I'll be out for a bit, hopefully, I'll be back soon as you're reading this!
-Love, Shuichi"That's one of the many things I love about you Shuichi..." Rantaro sighed with a grin. "You'll always help someone no matter how much you need the help yourself."
Staring at the tray of food, Rantaro sighed as he placed the note beside the cup of juice. He had no appetite, he felt like hurling at the thought of eating, let alone actually doing it. Ignoring the breakfast, Rantaro turned to the empty room. "Monokuma." Knowing the headmaster could hear him, Rantaro watched as the robot bear popped into the dorm out of thin air.
"What can I do for ya Amami?" Monokuma asked.
"Can..." Rantaro began to beg, tears beginning to drip down his cheeks. "Redo the chapter, go back to before Kokichi died, please! Make him a survivor, swap him out for Harukawa or Yumeno, hell, even Kiibo! Please! I need Kokichi!" He screamed, grabbing fistfuls of his hair as he dropped to his knees with a painful thud.
"Sorry, no can do," Monokuma cackled. "Ouma's dead now. You had plenty of time to rewrite his fate, yet you didn't."
"Well, I didn't plan on falling in love with him, did I?!" Rantaro shouted as he raised his head, glaring at the bear who was now at eye-level with him.
"Why'd you write him to be in love with you and Saihara then?" Monokuma retorted with a cheeky aura. Rantaro didn't have an answer, he knew it was all his fault. Unfortunately for the mastermind, for once, the headmaster was right. "Look Amami, you knew what was going to happen. This is all on you. We can't go back to make you happy, the higher-ups won't allow that."
"Isn't there something I can do? Anything at all?!" Rantaor begged for an answer, he needed Kokichi, he wanted his boyfriend. He needed Shuichi and Kokichi, together.
"Sorry kid. There's nothing you can do, this is it. This is how it goes. You're not the first mastermind to be in this situation." Monokuma's sigh held a hint of empathy, surprising the mastermind. "Saihara's here, goodbye." With nothing else to say, Rantaro wiped his tears and crawled back onto the bed as Monokuma disappeared in the blink of an eye. The room remained empty, Rantaro's despair staining the walls.
The lock twisted as Rantaro heard the door open and close, the lock twisting again before Shuichi appeared in front of him. "Hey, I took your key with me, I hope you don't mind. I didn't want someone to... Uh... You know."
"I know, it's okay," Rantaro whispered, his voice hoarse. He noticed the detective's gaze land on the tray of food, falling into a frown as the two locked eyes.
"You didn't eat any breakfast."
"Great deductive skills," Rantaro joked. "I'm not hungry."
"I'm not taking no for an answer," Shuichi replied. The detective picked up the tray and crawled onto the bed beside Rantaro, the tray in front of their crossed legs. Breaking off a piece of the food, Shuichi placed it against Rantaro's lips who opened them. He began to feed the mourning greenette, planting the occasional kiss on his cheek or forehead.
"Shuichi, stop," Rantaro sighed. "You're hurting too, don't ignore your own needs."
"I won't. Right now, I want to help you, it'll help me feel better too. Come on, eat up, you deserve it."
Rantaro sighed as he allowed the other male to continue feeding him, enjoying the smile on the detective's face. If only you knew the truth, if only you knew the true cause of everyone's deaths... I never want to see the look on your face when you find out... Kokichi... I'm sorry...
