Chapter 6: Can I talk to you?

MEGHAN'S POV
"Hey can I talk to you?" Paige asks me.
"Sure." I respond walking over to her. I'm glad she doesn't call me sweety or honey because I hate being called that.
"So I wanted to talk to you about what happened earlier." She says walking over to the counter, we take a seat. I take a pen and start writing down calculations of the garage, I do this everywhere I go.
"You mean at the diner?" I say writing down the circumference on the clock on the wall.
"No I mean when you were talking to Walter about weather or not to take the job." I knew what she was talking about the whole time but I didn't want to talk about it.
"What do you want to know?"
"Why did you ask about how much this job payed?"
"I asked 'Will I get payed for this' not how much this job payed." I say slightly angry, not at Paige just at everything right now.
"Yeah that's what I meant, why did you ask that?"
"Because I don't exactly have a lot of money, that's all."
"Oh ok one more question, why did you want to live in the garage?"
"I never said I did."
"Toby told me you wanted to."
"That's another story." I say getting up to leave. Paige then grabs my arm gently.
"Tell me it will be our secret."
"It's not important."
"Well if it's not important then just tell me."
"My mother died during child birth and my father left me four years ago, I've been living by myself for four years now and I thought I might finally have a real home. That's all. I'm done." I reply getting up and walking away as soon as I get up I trip on the chair my sun glasses fall off and I look up to see who saw me fall and see that the whole team except Walter was watching Paige and I's conversation and heard what we said, but now the only thing they were staring out now was my black eye.
"What happened?" The whole team asks in unison.
"Some kid was being mean that's all." I say getting up and walking away.
"She hit you?" Sylvester asks.
"Actually it's a he, and yeah... he um.. kinda does it a lot.." I respond placing my sun glasses on the table.
"But don't worry I can handle it I'm fine."
