Chapter 37: The test

(This is a month later.)
WALTERS POV
"Hey Meghan, Toby can you help me with the groceries?" Paige asks.
"Can't were gambling." Meghan shouts back. This makes me laugh. I walk over and help Paige with the groceries.
"What's with all the groceries?" I ask Paige.
"I decided to make baked zetti for dinner tonight." She says taking the sauce out of the bag.
"Touch down! Hand it over." I hear Meghan shout from the living room. I walk into the living room with Paige.
"What game are you betting on?" I ask them.
"Steelers-Patriots." Toby says.
"Yeah and Steelers just scored, pay up." Meghan says gesturing for Toby to give her the money. Toby hands her the money.
"I'll be right back." Meghan says running upstairs.
"Well I guess we're down a hundred dollars." Happy says walking into the room she is now 4 and a 1/2 months pregnant and she's getting pretty big.
"I thought the patriots were going to win." He responds.
"Well they didn't." Happy says sitting down next to Toby.
"Shit!" I hear Meghan shout from upstairs. Knowing how clumsy Meghan is she probably stubbed her toe or something.
"Hey so Meghan. You and Jasper have been going out for about a month now. How's it going?" Paige asks Meghan who is walking down the stairs.
"Apparently a lot different then I hoped." Meghan responds throwing a pregnancy test box on the table. Her face is pale.
"What's that?" I ask Meghan.
"It's a positive pregnancy test." She responds her voice weak and scared.
"Who's is it?" Toby asks.
"It's mine you idiot." She responds angry. She sits down with her head in her hands. I take the test out of the box and look at it.
"Holy crap it is positive." I say looking at the test.
"Yeah no kidding." Meghan's says her head still in her hands.
"I'm so stupid, I am so freakin stupid." She says quietly.
"Who's child is it?" Paige asks Meghan.
"It's Jaspers." She responds her voice shaking.
"Does he know?" I ask her.
"No." She responds.
"Well you have to tell him your pregnant with his child." Paige says in a comforting voice.
"But your like fifteen." Toby says joining the conversation.
"I'm sixteen don't you remember my birthday party?" She asks very annoyed.
"Not good." Happy says looking at the test. At this point Cabe walks in.
"What's going on in here?" He asks.
"Meghan's pregnant." Toby says putting his arm around her. Meghan elbows him in the chest making him get off.
"What?" Cabe asks confused.
"You heard him." Meghan says she is standing up leaning forward with her hands on the table.
"So now there are two pregnant scorpions?" Cabe asks.
"Guess so." Meghan says.
"You need to tell Jasper." Paige tells her.
"I'm going to text him and tell him to come over." Meghan says picking up her phone and texting him. He takes about ten minutes to get here. The whole time we wait we are watching Meghan who is pacing back and fourth. When he knocks on the door Meghan jumps a bit. She goes to open the door and sends us out of the room, of course we eaves drop anyway.
"Hi my love." Jasper says walking in. He sees her face and asks
"Is everything ok?"
"well... um... there's something I need to tell you." Meghan says sitting down on the couch, Jasper sits next to her.
"What is it?" He asks with a concerned look on his face.
"Well... I'm... pregnant. Your going to be a father." She tells him softly.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Oh my god." He says with a shocked look on his face.
"Yep." Meghan says flatly.
"We can do this." He says.
"Together?" Meghan asks quietly.
"Yes." He responds.
"He's lying." Toby whispers from behind me.
"What are you talking about?" I whisper back.
"Instead of Meghan saying 'Together?' and Jasper responding 'Together.' he said 'Yes'. He also shifted his eyes to the left."
"So what are you saying?" I ask.
"He's not sure if he's going to stay." Toby responds his expression upset.
"He might leave, we need to tell her." Paige says her face is red with anger.
"No we can't get involved, we need to let them work this out on their own." Toby says.
"But I know what it's like to be left a single mom and it sucks. I don't want her to go through that." Paige responds with tears in her eyes.
"Don't worry they will work it out." Toby says in a comforting voice even though we all know he doesn't believe that. We direct our eyes back to Meghan who is holding Jaspers hand. They hug and Jasper leaves. Meghan then walks over to us.
"Ok you can stop eaves dropping now." She says standing next to us.
"How did you know we were eaves dropping?" Toby asks.
"I'm not stupid." She says with out looking away from us.
"I just didn't make a good decision." She says sitting down.
"Don't worry Meghan you will be fine. Your going to be a great mom." Paige says taking Meghan's hand.
"But your like fifteen." Cabe says interrupting our conversation.
"SIXTEEN! Does anybody remember the disastrous birthday party?" Meghan shouts getting pissed off.
"Either way your to young." Cabe tells Meghan.
"Your probably going to want give it up for adoption." I says joining the conversation.
"You know what? Maybe I am young, but I can do this and the only one who seems to believe in me is Paige. I'm keeping the child." Meghan says getting up and going upstairs. We all look at each other.
"What the hell did we just get our selves into?" Happy asks running upstairs to Meghan.
