Chapter 39: Party

SYLVESTERS POV
"Hey guys guess what we are doing today?" Paige asks walking into the garage with Ralph.
"What?" I ask.
"We are throwing Meghan and Happy a baby shower!" She says beaming with excitement. Both Meghan and Happy aren't here, Meghan spent the night at Jaspers and Happy's at her house due to morning sickness.
"Don't you remember what happened last time we tried to throw a party?" I ask remembering that day.
"Don't worry this time it will be different, and nobody died today." Paige says looking at us. Right when Paige says this Happy and Meghan walk in. Happy is very big because she is 4 1/2 months and she's wearing a black maternity shirt, leggings and her usual combat boots. But Meghan has not grown the slightest bit because she's only a week or so and she is wearing a slightly cropped white shirt that says 'Brooklyn' on it, black distressed jeans and grey {knock off} Jordan's.
"Toby take Happy out to eat and take your time." Paige whispers to Toby. Toby nods and walks over to Happy.
"Hi Happy, Do you want to go out to eat with me?" He asks in a way that doesn't really sound like a question.
"Like a date?" Happy asks.
"Sure." Toby responds smirking. Happy hesitates.
"Sure." She responds. They walk out of the garage.
"Ok Walter I have an idea, play along." Paige whispers to Walter. I'm watching the whole time.
"Shut up!" Paige yells.
"What did I do this is your fault!" Walter yells back.
"How is this my fault?! Your the one who lost the paperwork!" Paige shouts.
"But your the one who started this whole thing!" Walter Shouts back following along.
"Hey Ralph do you want to go get some ice cream?" Meghan asks Ralph.
"Yes please!" Ralph answers excitedly. Meghan and Ralph walk out and get into Meghan's car and drive to the ice cream shop.
"All clear." I tell Paige and Walter.
"Good job Walter." Paige say patting him on the shoulder. Walter nods.
"So what can I do to help?" Walter asks Paige.
"You can help Sylvester with decorations. We already have left over snacks from Meghan's disaster party so we don't need anymore snacks. since Cabe is out sick today we will need as much help with decorations as possible." Paige answers.
"What are you going to do?" I asks curiously.
"I'm going to get the gifts, because I figured non of you would know what to get for two pregnant people." Paige responds. She walks out of the garage and gets in her car to go to the store.
"Ok so where do we start?" I ask Walter.
"Um let's start with streamers." He responds. I go over to the closet where Paige put all the spare decorating supplies. We have pink and blue streamers, which is perfect because we don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl.
We hang up the streamers and then move on to the banner that says 'Happy baby showers!' on it. Walter gets on a ladder to hang the banner.
"Move just 3.2 inches north and the banner is at the right angle." I inform Walter and he does as told then climbs down. We finish the rest of the decorations at the exact time Paige walks in with multiple Babies R us bags in her hand. She looks around.
"This looks amazing guys!" She says excitedly. We both nod at the same time. She sets the gifts down on the kitchen counter. She then takes the snacks out of the cabinet, puts them in bowls and places them on the table.
"Why do you always want to throw special parties?" I ask Paige because I know we were all thinking it.
"I like to make people smile." She responds smiling.
"What is so fascinating about parties?" Walter asks.
"They show that somebody cares about them and they also represent a special day." She responds placing a bowl of Cheetos on the table. At that point Toby runs in with Ralph.
"They're... Coming..." Toby says out of breath. We quickly get into the center of the room.
"What are we doing?" Ralph asks quietly.
"It's a baby shower, just follow along." Paige says taking Ralph's hand. The girls walk in talking about something and they turn our way.
"Surprise!" We all shout in unison. The girls look around.
"What is this?" Happy asks.
"Yeah what is this for?" Meghan asks.
"It's a baby shower, for both of you!" Paige says excitedly.
"Yeah it was Paige's idea but we helped." Toby says and we all nod.
"Thank you so much." Happy and Meghan say in unison. Toby turns on 'Rock you like a hurricane' By The Scorpions. We hear somebody walk through the door and direct our attention to the door. We see Jasper walk in and walk over to Meghan shortly followed by Happy's dad, he has two bags in his hand. Happy's smile quickly disappears.
"What are you doing here?" Happy asks calmly.
"Paige invited me, I wanted to see my daughter and grandson or granddaughter." He responds.
"I haven't seen you in a while." She responds.
"Yeah since Christmas." He says walking closer to her.
"Well come in." Paige says.
"I brought gifts for Happy and Meghan." He says holding up the gifts.
"Oh you can put those in the kitchen counter." Paige says. He places then on the counter.
"Oh speaking of Meghan, I don't believe you two have met." Toby says gesturing to both of them.
"I'm Patrick Quinn, Happy's father." He says extending his hand for Meghan to shake.
"Nice to meet you Mr.Quinn, I'm Meghan. This is my boyfriend Jasper." Meghan responds firmly shaking his hand then gesturing for Jasper to shake his hand.
"Congratulations." Happy's dad says to Jasper and Meghan.
"Thank you." Jasper responds shaking his hand. We have a great time at the party, dancing, singing and just hanging out. At the end of the party Happy pulls Toby aside and kisses him.
"Thank you for this party." She says softly.
"Anything for you my love." Toby says and they kiss again, I look over to see Walter and Paige kissing too. Meghan and Jasper are off talking.
