There's a boy, lost his way, looking for someone to play
There's a girl in the window tears rolling down her face

At nights he'd stare up at the bare ceiling and think too hard about many things. But one night, all his thoughts seems to circulate around one single thing - is it okay to keep going like this? He thinks so hard about it that he begins to cry, and then he falls asleep. Every night following that one begins and finishes exactly the same. He would ask himself if he's been lying to himself this whole time and eventually a tear falls before he's choked up and the sensation of sleep calms him down. He would wake up in the morning without a single thought of the night before. His eyes would be red and slightly swollen but he steps out of bed with cold, hard ones instead. And, because of this, he's lost so many hours of sleep dwindling on the pain he's feeling to the point where he begins to sleep at school, replacing the hours lost at night with ones on the rooftop.

In the morning, she'd always be stepping out of bed hours before she needed to leave for school. But one morning, when she's finished breakfast, she stares at the inside of her empty mug with a glossy look in her eyes, thinking about one single thing - do I really have to do this? Then, she places her plate and mug in the sink and makes her way towards the window sill. She's no longer interested in the single drop of milk in her mug that she can't drink and gazes out the window instead. Every morning following that one begins and finishes exactly the same. She would ask herself is she's completely sane and soon a tear escapes the corner of her eye before her eyes are overflowing with tears and, just like her finished mug of milk, an empty feeling overcomes her. When it's finally time to leave, her face is dry and expressionless. Her eyes would be red and slightly swollen but she steps out the door nonetheless, making them unreadable instead. And, because of this, she's losing sight of what's important as she dwindles on the agony she's feeling to the point where she begins to spend the lunches she use to find so special on the rooftop, where the wind is the only thing that can comfort her.

We're only lost children, trying to find a friend
Trying to find our way back home

He begins to forget where his home really is. It's definitely not the bed he's spent so many nights crying on, and he's positive that it's not the basketball court he forces himself to play on. He doesn't remember who's really his friend. Is it the pink-haired girl who wakes him in the middle of his sleep, or is it the squinty-eyed teammate who has too much faith in him? He really doesn't know and it confuses him more. He wants a friend and wants a home but he's not sure if he has either of them and the desperation for a someone and somewhere to return to grows larger every day.

She had a home. But soon she loses any hope of having one when the warm place she once loved begins to numb her. She wonders if everything she'd been thinking was nothing but deception and she blinds herself with tears. She needs a friend, but she's afraid that having one would be the last hit before she blacks out. She can't face the consequences of having a friend and the reality of having no home but she's slowing breaking each day without the presence of the two.

We don't know where to go, so I'll just get lost with you
We'll never fall apart, 'cause we fit together right, we fit together right

She never meant to meet him. She never meant to fall asleep and she never meant to miss class. She never meant to rush towards the door and she never meant to catch his gaze. But she did, and he told her that she couldn't leave the rooftop without his permission. And, she never meant to obey his words

He finds her beautiful. Even though she has average looks, everything about her captivates him and he can't stop himself from making her stay. She walks towards him and his heart begins to race. Her expression is frightened, making him want to hold her close. And, he does. He grabs her shaking hand and envelops her in her arms. She's got no idea what's happening with herself but she begins to cry into his chest and he never lets go.

These dark clouds over me, rain down and roll away
We'll never fall apart, 'cause we fit together like

The sky that's stretched above them turns into a fore-bidding grey and, like the tears each of them cried, raindrops fall onto the two of them. But, despite the weather, she's completely warm and content where she is, in his arms, and all the rain that falls on him is nothing compared to the tears that are dampening his shirt. And, they're both thinking the same thing - that they've finally found what they're looking for; a friend and a home.
