You met a boy. While you were being fixed up from a traumatic car accident, you encountered a boy at the hospital. He was exceptionally tall, with brown hair and a well built figure.

He told you stories about his past, amazing basketball matches that fascinated you. You'd listen intently as you sat in your wheelchair, something you had absolutely hated while you were in the hospital. Your legs had been damaged terribly, so a wheelchair had to restrict you from using them.

This boy would visit you countless times, and you both would laugh over many things.

He made everyday feel less like torture and added happiness to your dull life. You now kind of enjoyed the hospital, him being the sole reason.

Everyday, you'd fall more and more in love with the brown-haired boy, and he soon become somebody you couldn't wait to see.

Then he told you he was leaving. His basketball team needed him and at that point, his knee was good enough to play with. Your heart was breaking. Around the same time, your legs weren't getting any better. You didn't want to be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of your life.

He promised you he would be back, and you waited constantly to see his smile once again. But that day never came.

It had been months since he left, and you were losing hope of seeing him again. Your legs had gotten better, and you were now in possession of crutches, but that was only if they were needed. You were almost good as new, and you wished that he could see you like this.

The doorbell suddenly rang, and you called out, saying that you'd answer it. Rushing down the stairs, you felt a tiny spark of pain in your right leg, but that always happened when you bended your legs swiftly.

Opening the door, you looked up to meet the very person you had given up hope on.

"Kiyoshi..." The name trailed off your lips and you couldn't find the ability to speak.

He was right there, in front of you. He was dressed in a plain blue shirt and basketball shorts.

"(Your name)." Kiyoshi grinned, and everything that surrounded you two just froze.

"Kiyoshi... Why now?" You could feel a tear escape the corner of your eye.

His hand cupped your cheek lightly, a sad smile appearing on his lips.

"Back then, I promised, didn't I?"

The boy who gave your life colour, the boy who was beside you when no one else could find the time to visit, the boy who held your hand when a needle was being injected, the boy who vowed that he'd someday see you again, that boy...

Was back.
